Chapter 5 🌙

I called the authorities and they removed me from the Neptune Lupine pack.

I was awarded all scholarships I had signed up for, and received a dorm, cash, study supplies free of charge – and all elite college services, also free of charge.

I seriously kind of felt like a queen.

I had survived death.

I had escaped a Wraith.

Received entry into my favourite university.

And now, I was in love with my classes and my friends.

I had somehow made it into the most popular group of girls and guys in the first year, and I wasn't complaining. It's like every wish I ever wanted was coming true.

I had two girls opposite me at the lunch table, while all the guys were buying lunch from their favourite food stall which was selling pizza.

"Did you hear about the party tonight, Evelyn? It's Jacklyn's birthday and she didn't plan anything, so I organised a last minute surprise party," Amy tells me, "Can you come? Or will you be studying?"

"I'll come," I should say study, but I was in a good mood and a little party hurt nobody so....

"Good, Jackie will love that you're there too," Angel smiles in approval, "Now, did you hear?"

"What?" Amy and I ask simultaneously.

"About the new guy?" Angel bites her lip, and raises her brow, "He's with the boys now. Have a look, but don't stare. He's really fucking hot, like I can't even –"

"Shh, they're coming over now," Amy hisses between her grit teeth, while I sip from my milkshake and take a look at the guys.

Jeremy, Ken, Dave, Ralphy and Juan were always hanging out together and occasionally with us – all nice handsome dudes, but... there is a newbie.

And I immediately start choking on my milkshake, as I suck in too much and forget how to swallow.

I cough and splutter as I cover my mouth with my hand, and Amy looks at me like I've gone nuts, and Angel is trying not to laugh good naturedly at my reaction to the new guy.

"Heyyy," Amy sing songs, "Come sit, Evelyn, shuffle over, make some extra room – we can all fit!"

I shuffle along the table but I keep my eyes centred on the food, and not the guys.

I'm trying not to react but it's so hard to process who I just saw.

"Cool," Jeremy sits next to me, thank god – and the rest sit down in an order I don't want to see. I don't want to look up, "Hey so, this is Ferir. He's new to town."

Ferir.

Fucking shit –

"Fur-ror?" Amy asks, "That's.... strange. I'm Amy."

"Wow... Angel," Angel boldly stares and introduces herself next, and now I know from her stare that he is sitting on my bench but down the other end, furthest away from me. Good. No eye contact could occur.

"Ah – and this is Evelyn," Jeremy is elbowing me, trying to get my attention, but I just push his arm out of my side and play with the straw in my milkshake, ignoring everyone.

And the impeding silence.

"Are you shy or...?" Dave asks.

"Evelyn's shy?"

Oh no, now they were all going to tease me.
