The clouds swiftly made way for the sun to rise up. The sun shone upon Gwangju, after a tiresome Saturday. The apartment's curtains were not covering up the huge glass windows causing light to fall on Aeri's face. It drew a line on half her face, toning the exact contours of her petite face. The sunlight complimented her fair complexion. It didn't take the girl another second to turn from an angelic creature to a distressed human as she let out a groan.
She fluttered open her eyes to adjust to the surrounding light. She tried sitting up but fell back on the white plush mattress. She wasn't shocked to see the torn pink wallpaper or the broken glass on the pristine floor in the corner of the room. She could only look around to see the frame beside the mirror with the person she valued the most.
His eyes gleamed at her figure in the picture. His blonde crisp hair fell on his porcelain white skin. How his left arm rested on her shoulders, how he was taller than her, and the kindness filled in him. She could only go back to last week's accident.
She waited for her brother on a busy Friday in Gwangju. She was dressed all dressed in pink, a-line dress, dropping over the black stilettos she wore for the occasion. Her curled, blonde hair was pinned up to prevent it from being a mess on Minjeong Street. She looked angelic for a Friday night with her light makeup and attire. The snake-like street was all clear as one of the highest restaurants was on the corner. Her brother was 10 mins late so she decided to go to the garden-balcony to rest her feet from the annoying pain from the 4-inch heels. She could see the whole street from the balcony on the first floor. As she was patiently waiting, she saw her brother's red Audi coming this way. She stood up in excitement. The next second she couldn't believe her eyes.
A big truck crashed into the posh Audi, crumpling it under. The truck managed to escape the scene. The incident happened a few meters away. Aeri felt like her world just shattered. She rushed out of the building as fast as she could, reaching near the horrifying site. As she reached the crushed car, she could see a pool of blood right beside her brother's lifeless body. She felt a layer of hot liquid form in her eyes. The next thing she knew was misty tears escaped her beady eyes. She caressed her brother's face slowly like he's a little kid. She removed the little strands of hair covered in blood. Her tears landed on his pale skin. The surroundings were immediately filled with sirens and gasps.
She was seated on one of the silver chairs with little holes in it. She didn't stop whimpering until the doctor made his way out of the room Shotaro was operating in. Their eyes met and the doctor's face was written with sadness all over. Aeri couldn't believe that her only brother had just passed away.
Aeri shook her head, trying to come back to reality. The little flashback was enough for her eyes to be brimmed with tears. She gulped in her tears and lazily made her way out of the bed. She twisted the knob of the door, entering the bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror. She noticed the eyebags laying under her puffy eyes. She couldn't ignore her pale self right away. Millions of thoughts rushed over her mind. But one kept lingering around her mind all along with the staring contest of hers with the mirror. If glares could kill, the mirror might have crushed right away. She suddenly smirked, thinking of an evil plan in her head. Her skin around the lips creased up, thinking about the one and only. REVENGE!
