Winter was strolling through the castle without having any plan where to go. Her father, the king, was throwing a huge party and Winter had absolutely no intentions to be down there and talking to people she didn't knew nor wanted to know. And so she was just mindlessly walking around parts of the castle she didn't knew despite living in it for years.
It was not like she could get lost right?
At least was that what she thought. She only stopped when she noticed a silver shimmering door. She looked around but everything looked unfamiliar and so she decided this door looked interesting enough to deserve some of her attention. She took the doorknob into her hand and tried to open it and the door actually opened. Even easily and smooth. That was weird as this was definitely not a part of the castle where many people where around usually. She closed the door behind her and scanned the room. There was nothing to to see except her. Winter went a little bit forward and traced along the frame of a mirror. It was just like the door out of silver and strangely there was no dust on it. She looked up and realized that the room was full of mirrors, which she couldn't have seen earlier because the lighting was bad in the room . Or atleast could she only see mirrors. She continued walking and looked from left to right and scanned the mirrors and her reflection in the mirrors. Winter was no expert but she was sure that every single mirror was a little bit different from the others even though they looked similiar. And so she just let the maze soak her in forgetting the sense for time and space till she could see a shadow at the edge of her vision. She turned around and scanned her surroundings.
"Hello?", Winter shouted unsure.
No answer, it even felt like the room got even quieter.
"Stupid this was nothing", Winter then said loud to herself and shook her head at how silly she acted.
"Why should somebody even be here?", she then asked herself loud to calm herself down.
She then continued walking through the maze of mirrors and then there was it again. A shadow. She stopped in her tracks and after she couldn't make out anything she just continued walking, but she would still occassinoally glance over her shoulder. And then the tight maze opened into a wide room in which a tall mirror stood. To be fair it wasn't much taller than the others but definitely a few inches and at the top of its farme was a blue glowing crystal set-in and shimmered calming. She just scanned the whole frame before she looked at her own reflection and widened her eyes when she saw a woman or a girl, it was hard to tell, behind her.
"You shouldn't be here", the woman said and came closer.
"Wh-who are you?", Winter asked and couldn't control her shaking voice.
"Me, I am practically part of this castle if you know what I mean... Princess", the woman said and Winter calmed down.
"So you are a servant?", Winter asked.
"I think that would be the best description", the woman said and nodded a little bit.
"Ah okay, so what are you doing here?", Winter asked thinking it was odd for a servant being that far from the party.
"I have to take care of the room, ... Princess", the woman said and this time Winter clearly heard the pause the woman had made before she said princess.
Then the woman suddenly looked up and was looking like she tried to hear something.
"I am sorry I have to go shortly I think it would be better to stay here", the woman said and walked around a corner.
