“Like I’ve told you Ma, all this chaos in our society are the work of those people who are not worthy sitting in their positions.” Mia said to her mother as they eat their breakfast while watching the television’s news.
“You can’t blame it all to them Mia, sometimes people do bad things and our government are only acting according to their positions.” as Marnel explains her side to her daughter.
They are a pair of people who have different insights in life that all they do whenever governments, politics or society is concern they always argue.
“Are you saying this because of your job as a policewomen? Are you not speaking as citizen of this country?”
“Mia, it’s not something like that, I’m telling you this because that’s what reality is. If nobody’s perfect so does our system in our country.” Marnel feels that her daughter is about to explode from anger every time she explains her side.
“You always sa—“
“Anyway, I’m running late for work. See you later.” as Marnel walks out of the house, she thinks that it’s better to end the conversation before they end up fighting.
Mia is Law student who is about to finish her master’s degree this year. As she walks in the hallway in the campus her thoughts are on the argument they have earlier. “Friend, stop frowning it makes you old easier.” Charles said while stretching Mia’s forehead.
“I’ve been like this every day, did I got older?” she gives a smirk to her gay best-friend, yes Charles is a very handsome, smart and kind yet gay. Many people keep on saying that it was a waste that he can’t share his genes to other women, he was aware of this situation though. Charles giggles “Quite a bit though, I can see your little wrinkles here in your forehead.” Mia gives him a little push then said “You know my story from the moment we met so stop reminding me every day not to think about those stuff, okay?”. They went inside their classroom as they saw their professor coming. Mia is a kind of person who asks whenever she’s curious about certain things, specially concerning about society. She’s an activist in her school but she keeps it to her Mother because she knows it will be one of their arguments every day. She likes history subject with the influence of her professor, she admire him very much, Mr. Dino Panganiban. Little did she know that Mr. Dino would be someone that’ll connect her to something that will change her every day life.
“Hey Mia your boyfriends’ here already” Charles said pointing at the waiting area near the gate. “Wow! He’s early today” as Mia pick her things up and started walking towards Dominic Rosas, her boyfriend. She waves her goodbye to Charles as she enter the car. “I’ve missed you so much babe” Dominic said as he leans to kiss Mia. “Yeah me too. So how was your trip to Palawan? Did you enjoyed there?” she said. “Yeah…kinda. When we arrive there instead of welcoming the visitors what we witness are people having a protest about the mining in Palawan. It was a little bit in chaos but the authority manage to calm the situation and let the protesters stop.” Dominic explains the happening on his business trip in Palawan.
“Government must not approved that, Palawan is a tourist spot in our country. It would be a waste if they destroy it and just use for building construction.”
“They actually have a petition online to stop it. I already signed though. I think you too babe.” Dominic reach his phone to Mia to visit the online petition and singed up.
The next day Mia was called by Mr. Dino to his office to discuss about the activist org. In the campus. He overheard from students about Mia being part of it.
“Ms. Indina I’ll be direct to you. Have you heard about the mining in the Palawan?
“Yes Sir and I’ve already singed for the online petition.”
