Lan Huan saw clearly that it was the fever talking. He marveled how just the touch of his hand got him so hot and bothered, so turned on.

He shook his head and took his hand out of his body and out of his clothes. Jiang Cheng whimpered at the loss, almost crying now.

- Please, sweetheart... You must rest today... You are still weak, Wanyin.  –  he leaned in and kissed his cheek.

- Husband... -  Jiang Wanyin wailed. – Why are you punishing me...?  What did I do? How did I offend you, Zewu-Jun?  –  he was whimpering desperately.

- No, no, my lovely. You should rest today...  Last night was too much on your body, Sandu Shengshou... I can still see the bruises, my love.  –  Lan Xichen almost sobbed, caressing him slowly.

- No... No... Why don't you want me any more, Clan Leader Lan Xichen... Why... Please... Please? Please, make love to me... I need you... I miss you... I miss you so much... -  he was muttering hurriedly, pitifully, too upset to think.

- Oh, kitten! –  he murmured, kissing his lips lightly. – Of course I want you. Of course I do, sweetheart... Come, come, let's put you back to bed.

Lan Xichen lifted him up in his arms and felt him cling to his robe desperately. His long hair swayed and fell to the side, his bare feet looked cold, his fingers were digging into his clothes with surprising strength  –  all these small things melted Zewu-Jun's heart. He was listening to his muffled words on his way to the Hánshì:

- Why don't you love me any more, Zewu-Jun...?  -  Jiang Wanyin was sobbing desperately. –  Nobody loves me... Nobody wants me... Why, Zewu-Jun...

Lan Xichen held him tighter  –  those words stabbed him like daggers. He placed him on the bed, tucking him in.

He then took off most of his clothes too and relaxed down beside him, half sitting with his back propped against the wall, hugging him, and murmuring in his ear:

- Rest, my lovely. We have time, Wanyin. We have a lifetime to make love... to make babies... I promise you, I will never leave you. I promise you that as long as you love me, I will be loving you back. I swear it, Sandu Shengshou. I swear it, husband... You are so weak, my love... Please rest...

- Huan...  -  Jiang Cheng lifted his hand to touch his face. – Will you stay with me? A little? Just until I fall asleep? Will you be near?

- I will be here. I promise. –  he smiled and bent down to kiss his forehead.

Jiang Wanyin immediately snuggled close into his body, breathing in deeply. He was still shivering, but Lan Huan did not know if he was cold, or just coming down from his trance.

- Does it still hurt, darling? –  he asked.  –  Your belly?

- A little... I can't feel my legs... Why...  -  he murmured. –  But your warmth makes it better, husband... I feel better when you are here, I really do... I am so hungry, Zewu-Jun... -  he was mumbling, slowly falling asleep again.

- I am here, love. Sleep now... Later we will eat dinner together, and bathe together... it will be fine, sweetheart.  –  Lan Huan was coaxing, caressing his hair, watching him so flushed and still clinging to his clothes, worried.

- No... not together... No... because I want you... so much... -  he was frowning and mumbling discontent. – Hold me... I miss you...

- I am here, Wanyin. I am here to stay.

Lan Xichen was watching his husband smile blissfully at those words, pressing himself to his body more, hugging his legs and falling asleep with his head in his lap.
