Chapter Twelve

the pills.

athena had welcomed the girls into her apartment as she sat on the couch sighing in relief.

"i'm so glad you guys are here" she said while giving the three girls a small smile.

"us too, but we did run into someone on our way up here." madison said as she made eye contact with the girl.

"drew?" athena questioned as the girls nodded their head.

"we told him that you probably didn't want to see him, so he went home, i'm sorry."

"no no its okay, you're right, i would probably freeze up. its nice to know he cares though." the girl said as she looked down at her hands.

the night with the girls had slowly came to close, athena was glad they had came over. they had made her forget all about drew. after a while the girls decided they would have a sleep over.

athena had given some of her clothes to the three girls to wear to sleep. the girl had just given lilah some clothes as she watched lilah go into the bathroom to get changed.

as lilah walked into the bathroom she couldn't help but notice two orange bottles, filled with pills. the young girl couldn't help but think the worst, she snapped a few pictures before heading out of the bathroom.

lilah just wanted her friend to be okay, she was scared she was on drugs.

later that night athena had stepped into the bathroom, lilah thought this was a good time to mention the pills to madison and madelyn.

"can i talk to you guys?" lilah said while looking at them.

"of course whats up?" madelyn said giving the young girl a smile.

"earlier when i went into the bathroom i saw two bottles of pills, i don't know if i should confront ena or not." she said as she pulled up a picture of two unlabeled pill bottles on athena's bathroom sink.

" maybe we should talk to her about it in the morning." madison suggested as both girls agreed.

athena had woken up the next morning happier than ever, she walked into her living room to see the three girl fast asleep.

so she thought she would be nice and make them all breakfast, as she was half way done with breakfast madelyn and lilah walked into the kitchen.

"good morning." athena said to the girls with a wide smile.

"good morning" the two girls said in unison.

" wheres maddie? still asleep?" athena asked as she finished up making pancakes for her friends.

"she had to use the bathroom" lilah interrupted.

as lilah finished her sentence madison walked into the kitchen and sat at the little table athena had in her apartment.

athena placed three plates in front of the girls, before sitting down.

breakfast had been tense, athena wasn't sure if she had done something or if they just weren't morning people.

as athena placed the plates in her sink she asked the girls if they were okay.

"were good." they said.

the girl had stepped out of the kitchen and into the bathroom, leaving the bathroom door open. she opened the two bottles before taking a drink from the sink and taking the pills.

as she looked up from the sink she made eye contact with madison and madelyn.

jumping slightly, the girl played it off with a small laugh.

"what did you just take." madison said while looking at the ground.

"my meds, why?"

athena was confused on why the girls seemed, mad?

" what kind of meds athena." lilah said as she walked behind the two older girls.

athena was taken aback by lilah calling her athena, she had always used thena or ena.

sighing lightly the girl went to her living room, while the girls sat beside her.

" they are antidepressants." athena said with a small frown.

the three girls sighed in relief.

" we thought you were taking drugs or something ena, why did you take the label off of them."

"i don't know, its embarrassing that i have to take medicine to keep me from killing myself."

the three girls looked at athena with a frown.

athena took a deep breathe before she said anything.

"before anything of this, i was severely depressed, i couldn't get out of bed, or eat. i was in such a dark place, but no one even knew. but right as i was about to end it all i got this opportunity, and figured it would be better if i just took the labels off and hid them. i was scared you guys would think i was embarrassing or something." the girl said before playing her fingers.

the three girls took athena into a group hug.

"of course not ena we love you."

this was the first time in a long time where athena actually felt happy.
