Trickling down the window, I remember pretending the rain drops were racing each other. As lightning erupts from the gloomy sky and banging thunder as loud as drums. I sit at my window watching dirt turn to mud and sky from blue to gray. "Hunter breakfast is ready, come get your M&M pancakes" my dad shouts from the downstairs kitchen. "Be right there" I shout back. Jogging down the stairs in by lilac plaid PJ's and fuzzy warm socks. I hide the melancholy feeling behind a mask, trying to seem a little more happy than I am. Today reminds of the day my mother arrived in heaven. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was four years old and died when I was eleven. Now I'm fourteen living with my dad, little brother Keith, and my golden retriever Sally. "Good morin' darling, did you sleep well?" My father says with cheerful eyes. "Of course not, cant you see she looks like a Mole rat with crazy fur." That's when it crossed my mind that I didn't even tame my curly auburn hair. But today I didn't care, I could not get my mother off my mind. She passed on a gloomy Sunday in April, just like today. "Keith be nice today, because we are having dinner with my boss tonight. If it go's well I might get a promotion", pancakes are my favorite thing to eat in the morning, but need a little bit of maple syrup. I would poor it down my brothers shirt, but dad said to be nice today. Sense Sally was begging a gave her some pancake that had no chocolate. "Bing Bing" off goes my phone and I know exactly who it is. "Dad Amy will be here in 7-6-5-4-3-2-1, Hey Amy." Amy is my best friend, she lives two houses down from mine. We have been friends sense daycare, we all ways play with the horses on my farm. "Hey Hunter, Keith, Sally, Uncle." Amy calls my dad her Uncle because we are basically family. "Hi Amy do you want pancakes, and Amy we are having dinner with my boss if you'd like to come." Of course Amy will be there, she is like my sister, she will be there.
