Around 15 minutes after I got in the taxi I arrive at my new apartment. I live in a small apartment on the second floor. It only takes about thirty seconds in the elevator to reach the third floor where my apartment is. I enter apartment 307 and look around. To call it small is an overstatement. It's only two rooms, three if you count the kitchen. I walk into a room slightly smaller then a two car garage. There is a beige couch that can be pulled out into a bed facing a television that looks to be about ten years old. The little TV was on top of a five drawer dark wood dresser. The outdated kitchen is on the other side of the room. It has the same color dark wood cabinets, a microwave, a stove, and a sink. The last part of the room is two doors opposite to mine that I think lead to a closet and to the bathroom.
I spend the next six hours unpacking my few belongings. My skis and gear all go into the closet. My few summer clothes from Wisconsin could easily fit in the drawers and other necessities such as silverware also unpacked fairly quickly. I throw on a Wisconsin badger tee shirt and some blue jean short shorts so I at least look presentable for going out for my first shopping spree in Cali. I'm shopping in Cali!!!! I walk out of my apartment expecting to find a store right around the corner because that's how it works in L.A. right? WRONG! I wound up walking around for an hour and a half before I finally call Ellington for help.
"Hi Ellington, It's Nora Temple. Remember me from the airport." I say when he picks up.
"Hey Nora! How could I forget. We arrived here earlier this morning. What do you need?" Ellington asks.
"Ummm could you give me instructions. I'm kind of lost and, uh, I am looking for somewhere to buy cloths. Is there a mall near by?"
"Hahahaha! You've been here for under a day and you're already lost! Ok, I'll help. Where are you? I'm coming over to pick you up."
"You don't need to pick me up..."
"Nope, It's too late. You've already admitted you're lost. I'm just coming over to gone you a tour. "
" El, you don't have too" I whine
"Haha, where are you? I'm coming over. My mind has been made up! Come with me peasant! I mean person," I hear giggling in the background. He must be somewhere.
"Haha, ok, I think I'm at the corner of happy and healthy"
"Ok, so I'll pick you up at Walgreens. That's right, I watch tv!"
We both laugh before I tell him my real location and I sit back on a park bench and wait.
After waiting a while, a minivan pulls up with six people inside it. When Ellington opens the driver's door I get even more confused.
"I'm here!" He announces, "And remember the Lynch's I mentioned. Well they came along too."
"Hi, I'm Nora." I say shyly
"Hi Nora! I'm Rydel! Welcome to town!" Says a perky blond who looks around my age.
"Hey"
"Hi" say two blond boys. One looks younger then the rest like a 15 or 16 year old. The other, still fairly young, looks vaguely familiar, but I must be imagining it because I've never been to California any other time in my life. Two more boys are in the back dancing to some dub step on an iPhone. They don't look like they've even realized they stopped driving. Not wanting to annoy them I quietly sit in shotgun.
Still jamming out to dub step the only brunet other than Ellington shouts out,
"We're going to get shaved!"
Oh no
