A new start
*The day begins, the town square busy with people preparing for the upcoming festival of change. Soon, the stands will be up and running and people from all over will be returning home to partake in the 3 day festival. Currently, Aiden, the apprentice of the towns baker, is pestering his best friend to join him in preparations.*
Aiden: Come on Rei! The whole town is getting ready! Won't you at least help me with some of the stands...?
Rei: you know I don't... I don't like busy events... She has always been the quiet type, hasn't she?
Aiden: hmmm.... What if I buy you a meal this week for every stand you help set up?
Rei: ... that's still a lot of work.. promise you'll be there through all of it?
Aiden: I will as much as I can. You know how my teacher gets. She'll hit me with her rolling pin again if I don't do this right...
Rei: *laughs a bit* and we wouldn't want that, now would we?
Aiden: so you'll help?
Rei: hmm.. fiiiine, I'll help.
Aiden: Jumps up Thank you!!
Rei: yeah, yeah... you owe me food for this.
Aiden: I know!
*He drags her out the door to her home, the one Drea was so kind to share with her when she first arrived at this town. It had been so many years now, but Rei will never forget the day that she was chased out of her home, ending up here. Things are much better now for her, even though she has to put up with the overly energetic Aiden. As he drags her to the spot he was supposed to be setting up, he accidentally makes Rei knock into someone, sending them both falling*
Rei: Sh- I-I'm so sorry! Are you ok?
*She's immediately lifted up streams of water and is put face to face with an older teen with a claw mark across his eye*
Norvak: Watch where you're going. Klutz.
*She takes a step back and bows slightly*
Rei: s-sorry...
*Aiden takes her hand again, ready to be off.*
Aiden: sorry bout that.
*Norvak turns to leave, grumbling*
*Aiden drags her off, both of them arriving at the set up spot. Aiden and Rei start setting up, managing to get 4 stands up before his teacher calls him off, leaving Rei alone to continue setting up. She sighs and just keeps working, not wanting to disappoint her friend.*
*After a few hours, Aiden comes back with fresh food.*
Aiden: Hey Rei, stop and take a break! I brought food!
Rei: Pretty tired Thanks Aiden. Will you be able to help again soon?
*She goes over to him*
Aiden: Yep! Soon as we finish eating. Sorry I had to go so soon.. did no one stop to help?
Rei: Nope. .. Not many people do you know.
Aiden: Are you going on about the stupid "absent" thing again? I told you already that it's just some stupid prejudice!
Rei: .. Doesn't stop people from using it as an excuse..
Aiden: Then we'll just have to work harder, and take all the credit!
Rei: heh.. you know that won't work right? We're still kids in their eyes..
Aiden: Don't care. We can make it work! Just you and me! *He gives a wide grin*
