Chapter 4 Are You the Doctor?

I cover my mouth, then decide I need to hide more and cover my entire face with my hands.

My body lurches with each sob and I'm unable to control it. If they're saying anything to me, I can't hear over my own noises. Hands gently rest on my shoulders. I've hardly been touched by people before, the most was from what happened to me earlier. But this feels different, has the promise of comfort and I don't jerk away. Instead, as the hands tentatively pull me forward, I allow them to lead me and find myself in an embrace. The hands move and arms securely wrap around me, my own folded against me and my hands squished between my face and a firm chest. My back is being rubbed with a soothing circular motion. He's saying something, but I can't make it out. I only know he's talking from the vibration that runs through his chest as he speaks.

After a little while, I finally regain control and pull away.

“I'm sorry,” I sniff, looking at the floor, my hair hanging around me.

A tissue appears in front of my face and I take it, still not daring to look up.

I wipe my nose and wet cheeks. “I'll just go home.”

A hand reaches past the curtain of my hair, the finger lifting my chin until I'm completely looking up at his handsome face. “You'll do not such thing,” he says. “You've obviously been through hell and I want to make sure you're okay physically as well.”

With my blurry vision I notice his sandy hair and tender green eyes. “Are you the doctor?” my voice shakes with emotion.

He slowly drops his hand and smiles reassuringly. “Yes, I'm Dr. Green, but you get to call me Sean.”

Luke steps next to me. I'm unable to focus on all the others. “She was cut,” he gestures to the right side of his chest, “with a knife.”

Sean looks back at me. “Will you allow me to look at it?”

I nod numbly and sniff once more, rubbing my lips. Tears threaten as I can still feel him crushing mine with his mouth, rubbing his body against me.....
