She sat there, thinking. How could anyone love her? That's what he said. That he loved her, and only her. But so had that other guy, and she believed him. Look at where that got her, a sobbing mess on the bathroom floor, with thoughts of death dancing around in her head.
She had pulled herself back together, carefully trying to make herself better, but never really succeeding.
He was just a plain guy, nothing to special about him. He got good grades, was cordial with people. But there was only one thing he so desperately needed. Love. Not that halfhearted crap, but more like the sappy cliche love in movies and books. And he found the person he wanted to share it all with. But how could he get her to feel the same when she was so broken on the inside?
