Your turn to give me a riddle or fact.

More Than You Think

When I woke up, I was alone on the bed. The first thing I acknowledged was the calm around the place. There were only a few distant sounds of several things but vague as they were, I couldn't tell where they came from or what their sources were exactly.

I dropped back on the bed and stared up at the ceiling. I missed Ashley. Yes, already. I could be cuddling him right now, or even just resting my head on his chest.

I wasn't going to call him, there's no way I'd do that. Disrupting him the night before went against my better judgment and it had been more than enough.

Although, unfortunately, it still didn't change the fact that I missed him. He seemed to have so much time on his hands before we got here, but now that he was here, he seemed way too busy.

I understood perfectly though, it made perfect sense that he was obviously busy.

After a few moments of thinking about him, my eyes fell onto a folded piece of paper on the nightstand.

I reached out to retrieve it and opened it, only to find that Ashley had written me a letter. He was so sweet. I was already smiling after reading the first thing.

••

Good morning my love,

I'll be finishing a few meetings as I requested for them to be early. I left quietly not to disturb you, and after much struggle.
You were so beautiful in your sleep that I did not want to stop looking at you. I did kiss you, but thankfully you did not wake.
I'll see you as soon as I am finished.
Breakfast will be brought to you or if you prefer, you'll be taken to have it.
I cannot wait to see you, I love you.

Ashley.
(The love of your life)

I chuckled when I finished reading the letter. He would never miss an opportunity to remind me of what we shared, like he was afraid I would change my mind and he would lose me.

It also reminded me of the night before. I'd confessed to him, without even expecting to, but it was true, my love for him, it was there, more concrete than anything I knew.

Ashley had somehow done it, made me fall for him. Even then, I still thought I might have been falling for him already but I did everything I could to deny it to myself and him too.

Ashley came back around mid-morning. I watched him at the door looking sharp in his suit and not a hair out of place. He was so handsome. I didn't know how many times I would say that, for it to be enough.

We both smiled at each other without doing anything at first, it was awkward as fuck but it still gave me butterflies.

"What do you have there?" I asked because one of his hands was clearly holding something behind his back.

He shook his head before walking towards me. He brought his hand to the front to reveal a rose. I could die of all of this.

"Ashley..." I groaned and averted my gaze, even as I took it. "What did I tell you?"
