The next day at work for Julia was a more quiet, relaxed day - having said that, the usual six, seven? Did not show up.
At first Julia had barely noticed their absence, but as she was leaving to go collect Angel she realised that she had not encountered Lexis' group today.
Releasing a low sigh, Julia began walking towards Angel's school, not taking Rob's car today as it was an unusually sunny day; slightly windy, but sunny nonetheless.
The walk to Angel's primary school would take twenty to twenty-five minutes at most. Julia, despite having her earphones in and trying to block everything else out, found that her thoughts kept wandering back to a certain dark-haired, dark-eyed male.
Lexis.
The man was without a doubt, very attractive. However his attractiveness was in the sense that it was also quite beguiling. He could very easily be compared to a rose perhaps - it's a lame comparison but just like a rose, he is undoubtedly beautiful and very, very nice to look at. He has this perfectly sculpted face and even his flaws don't seem very much like flaws. Well, not to Julia anyway. Unfortunately though, as you get closer to this human rose, the realisation hits that it has thorns. Thorns that will cut and leave the hands of those who get near full of blood and scratches. Julia had developed a sort of infatuation with him, this was not like the interest she had taken in hoodie because with hoodie all she felt was pure curiosity. On the other hand Lexis, he captured Julia's attention in an entirely different way and she had - even though she denied it at the beginning - developed some sort of a crush on him.
At first Julia had found it silly that she was crushing on the quiet man who didn't say much or acknowledge Julia as much as the others. But now and after last night, she felt more drawn to him and there was nothing she could do about it other than day dream about Lexis and how he could possibly even be... real.
Upon reaching West Wood Primary (real creative yes) Julia waited outside the school, leaning back and resting her back against the brick wall that was opposite the doors Angel should be walking out of any second now.
Julia had been waiting for over twenty minutes now for Angel, but she had not showed up yet and the school was practically already deserted. Getting uneasy she began walking around the grounds, but there was no sign of any teachers or students.
Where was she?
Finally reaching the height of her worry Julia walked as calmly as she could inside the school, and towards the reception desk placed in the middle of the wide hallway. When she reached and was standing in front of the desk, Julia cleared her throat lightly to get the receptionists attention.
The ageing woman looked up and gave Julia a small smile, "Can i help you sweetie?"
Julia was never good around new people and what was she to say anyway?
"Um.. Can you maybe," after interrupting her sentence with a small sigh Julia tried again, "i've lost my sister." Julia's second try was far more straightforward than her former one and it left the receptionist looking mildly confused.
"You've lost your sister? I'm sorry if i heard you wrong but are you telling me you've lost your sister?"
"No, well yes. But you see i haven'y actually lost her," Julia paused to think about how she would explain her situation and then continued. "She didn't come out today, you see i've been waiting outside for almost half an hour now and she just didn't show. I know for a fact i dropped her off to school and normally i only have to wait five or so minutes for her. Do you maybe know if she's being kept behind or something of the sort?"
"Well, she must be kept behind then if she's normally out by the time you've just said. Don't you fret though, what's your sisters name?" The woman's light hair that was in a tight bun pulled at her skin and made her appear stern, however the kindness and warmth in her blue eyes said otherwise as she waited patiently for Julia to reply.
"Angel Lytton."
The woman moved her fingers frantically over her keyboard, her eyebrows scrunched up in concentration as she slowly typed in the given name.
"Ah! Angel Lytton. She was here today - for all five periods, now i just need to make a quick call to find out her whereabouts, hold on for a bit dear."
The woman's confirmation of what Julia already knew did little to soothe her nerves. Angel had never been late like this before and Julia's protective, sisterly instincts were assuming the worst only.
The elderly woman began talking on the mint coloured phone - asking for Angel's whereabouts - and nodding an awful lot. Julia was beyond worried now, she was afraid.
What if something serious happend?
There was nothing Julia could do right now to calm her nerves and so she began pacing. She needed a distraction, badly.
"Excuse me, er.. miss?" the elderly woman had to raise her voice, slightly, to gain Julia's attention.
"yes, is everything alright?" the worry in Julia's voice did not go unnoticed by the receptionist.
"Everything is okay - your sister is safe - it appears, however that she has been in a fight and th-"
"a fight?" Julia could not hide the shock that she felt, Angel would never get into a fight.
"correct miss, a fight."
"a fight?"
"thats what i said."
"no, i don't belive this, Angel's a lovely girl she would never get into a fi- wait. Where exactly is she now?"
"in detention as of the moment"
