Chp 6

Lunch with Dr. Taricone was fun, that guy is off da chain. I went back to my office and finished my meetings with second and third shift and started wrapping things up for the day.

My phone rang and I answered it hoping it wasn't anybody on the other end asking for favors today.

'Hello?"

"Hey girl", "Hey what are you up to missy?"

"Girl nothing just calling to be sure we are still on for tonight. Charles can't stop talking about our date tonight. I told him if his friend wasn't cute and was a total nerd I was going to kick his ass."

I laughed at Toni knowing how she is; I'm sure she put the fear of God in Charles.

'Girl you are crazy, now you got that boy thinking worrying what he has gotten him into with you."

"I'm sure he is thinking that, but I bet he knows that I'm serious about this guy he wants to bring along."

"I know girl, it will be ok, just know that if this dude is a dud, that's it I can never go on another blind date or be the friend babysitter again."

"Yeah I know and I really do appreciate you doing this for me."

"I know you do, it's all good."

"Let me get outta here girl or I won't be ready on time."

"What time are you all coming by? "Eight o'clock." Ok I will be ready but right now I need to get going so I can get to my hair appointment on time. I'll see you in a bit, "ok girl: see you later."

I hung up the phone just in time to grab my bag and put my sneakers on to head out to my hair appointment.

"Nikki" I shrieked when I heard my name being called and looked up to see Dr. Taricone in my door way.

"Yes Dr. Taricone?"

"I just dropped by to see if you needed a ride home."

"Actually Dr. Taricone I was just putting my sneakers on so I could head out to my hair appointment."

"Oh, well do you need a ride there?"

"No I am going to walk, get my exercise in for the day."

"Girl you don't need to exercise, from where I'm standing everything looks good to me."

"Uhh, thank you Dr. Taricone, but in order for me to keep my figure tight for my man, I have to get some exercise."

Dr. Taricone chuckled, and I heard him say

"If you were with me, I would be sure you got your exercise everyday and you wouldn't need sneakers for that."

"Excuse me?"

He looked at me with a smirk on his lips,

"I didn't say anything ma'am."

"Oh really, I thought I heard you mumbling something."

"I'm just saying Nikki, if you were my girl you wouldn't need to work I would treat you like the queen you are."

"Dr. Taricone, I hear that from men all the time, and I am already in a relationship and Kevin is the same way about me working. He wants to be the one to take care of me, but I don't need a man for that. I am quite capable of taking care of myself financially."
