'Arey jaldi jake dekho ki dulhan taiyar hui ya nahi' ordered kaki 'ji kaki mein abhi dekhke ati hu' replies sampoorna who was assigning work to the workers. She rushed to the bride's room and as soon as she pushed the door open she found Bondita sitting infront of the mirror all decked up in a beautiful banarasi sarree with zari work, a maang teeka supported by a single layered matha patti, her hair made up into a bun and a gajra wrapped beautifully around it ,a bright red bindi between her eyebrows. The area above her eyebrows painted with beautiful designs with white and red dots of sandalwood paste. Her lips painted red and Her palm and feet adored with alta. She wore the best of jewelries from madras specially made for her by the best gold smiths. She looked absolutely amazing afterall everything she wore today was precisely bought by Anirudh. He wanted to give the best to her.
'Tu bohot sundar lag rahi hai bondita kahi meri hi nazar na lag jaye' praised sampoorna as she got some kohl off her eyes and applied it behind bondita's earlobe. 'Thankyou sampoorna maa' she says as a fake smile plastered on her face.
'Abhi time hai bondita or tu tayar ho gayi hai to tu bole to kisiko tere kamre mein bheju' she asks 'nahi sampoorna maa vaise bhi aaj shadi hone wali hai to thoda samay agar akele mein mil jata to ......aap samjh rahi hai na' mentions Bondita. 'Haa koi baat nahi mein samjh sakti hu tu thoda aram kar le kamre mein koi nahi ayega' assures sampoorna . 'Mahrat ke thodi der pehle sakha babu ko bhej dengi kya' she hesitates. Sampoorna smiles 'ye bhi koi poochne ki baat hai' and leaves the room closing the doors.
Bondita got up her chair and went towards her bed ,sitting down she dropped her back in a fraction of seconds closing her eyes remembering everything.
Flashback
Bondita came running down the stairt to the study as her hair danced in the air and tears dropping mercilessly off her eyes. She pushed the study door harshly and saw Anirudh facing his back to her was reading something. She marched up to him and pulling him by the shirt she held his collar harshly and screamed on the top of her lungs throwing a picture on his face 'aapko kisne bola mere liye ladka dekhne ke liye'. Anirudh replies normally 'bondita bachpan se mein tumhe best dena chahta hu or kaafi had tak best diya or ab mein chahta hu ki tum Arnab Chatterjee se shadi karo'
Arnab Chatterjee was a well know doctor in the whole of India he was an open minded 23 year old young man who had served a lot to his country and was against the britishers. He had a similar ideology to that or Anirudh but no way was it same. He wouldn't t mind bondita working even after marriage and was ready to support her. He was a kind man who respected women and didn't discriminate amongst the people.
'Lekin mujhe isse shadi nahi karni' she yelled at him. Now Anirudh himself was loosing his calm 'Or kya mein jaan sakta hu ki tumhe kyu usse shadi nahi karni' he tried sounding composed.
'Mujhe usse nahi kisi se bhi shadi nahi karni or ye baat mei aapko hazar baar keh chuki hu or agar abhi bhi apko samjh nahi aata to mein hazar or baar kahungi shadi nahi karsakti .' She left his shirt. 'Kyu shadi nahi karni tumhe bondita .....acha agar tumhe ye lagta hai ki mein apne decision tumpe thop raha hu to tum hi bata do kisse shadi karni hai tumhe' she went silent at this how could she have the courage to tell him that she wanted to marry him when she knew that the answer would break he heart. 'Batao tumhe koi ladka pasand hai ...tum london mein padhi ho to batao koi ladka jisse shadi karne ke liye raazi jo tum mein karwa dunga shadi' he said loudly.
'Mujhe shadi nahi karni bass' she screamed and began leaving the study . 'Agar tumne kabhi meri sachmein izzat ki hai to tum is shadi ke liye haa karogi' he says coldly. She looks at him in astonishment how could he say that ,he very well knew that Bondita considered him as her god.
'Shadi ki tayari shuru karwa deejiye mei tayar hu' she said lost in some unknown world. He pressed a teary smile on his own lips ,this decision broke him twice as much it broke her. After bondita returned from london he understand how deeply he loved her but did not ever tell it to her because what id she didn't actually love him but says it back just as a form of respects. He thought if Bondita loved him she would confess her feelings to him without thinking twice. But the fact that in the last year and the half she never did it made him sure that she doesn't love him. Hence, he decided to get her married off. He had asked her many a times about the person who she wanted to get married to but she would always skip the question. Anirudh knew he wont be able to keep a hold on his feeling for too long now and the fear of hurting her occupied his mind and forced him to make a harsh decision of marrying her the most desirable bachelor or bengal. Afterall Arnab was genuinely a nice man.
