In A Heartbeat

Chapter 2

Two months later ..

I finished packing by this time, and I can admit to the excitement of finally being able to move somewhere out of the city to live a much more calm life. As much as I was interested in the city life and my new eye candy, I lost interest in my pursuit of him.  We've both been busy and have not been able to contact each other due to the overlapping schedules.

Where I moved to is not entirely in the country , I live in a small town. A beautiful , charming ,picturesque place called Ravencrest. I was working close to a year in the home building project. My very first home.

It was a medium sized modern minimalist home. Huge windows , meaning lots of that natural light. Everyone loves natural light because we can all agree that  light bills can be pretty nauseating to the absolute least. Furthermore , the house has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms , two levels including the first floor and the second floor. Then we we have the baseme. The inside of the house is very modernized , I wanted a slick aesthetic for my house , black and white. I haven't furnished my house all the way yet considering I've been working long hours at work just trying to tie everything in so I can fully transition into my new lifestyle.

I think it's appropriate to mention that I finally dropped my 'other job' and decided I was going to repent for my sins. Moving on, I will be making my first few stops at some home decor stores.

I pulled my car into the parking lot, and just as I was putting my keys into my bag and getting my cart my attention is caught by a glimpse of dark hair and those same ice cold eyes. I feel my heart drop.

" Long time no see, where did you go?" Kane asks. Walking up to me not lifting his eyes off of me.

" Oh hey! It's been a long time, how are you?" I ask smiling. And going in for a hug. God he smells amazing.
" I'm great actually I just moved into the town last week. Doing some business down here so I decided I'd just move here for my own convenience. I miss seeing your face !" He says.
" You don't say, I moved here not too long ago as well , I'm actually here doing some furniture shopping!" I say. I find it quite weird that he moved HERE of everywhere in the world. But okay, I'll sail his ship.
" Great! Can I keep you company?" He asks.
" I am indecisive woman when it comes to shopping but sure you can join me" I say and laugh because he looks to be happy with the idea of coming with me.

We continue on into the store and we're getting a few looks. It seems that people think we are a couple. We look like a good pair so I am not mad at it but just in case my potential husband is in this store I would not want him thinking that. Nonetheless, we gather up sheets and duvet covers , pillows , rugs , and throws for the bedrooms and the living room. We also get three flatscreens for the living room ,my master bedroom and the extra room on the other side of the wall in the living room . I never know what to call that area but that area where it is detached but it is still on the same floor. This is why I was never destined to build homes. All that I have left for my house is bar stools for my island counter in my kitchen and my plants which are being delivered two days from now.

Kane and I caught up and had many laughs. He is so beautiful. His laugh is even nice. I mean there has to be something wrong with this man. How can there not be? There is nothing that is too good in life. I find him entirely peculiar. He always seems to have this dead stare in my eyes when I'm talking , which gets my heart skipping many beats. However, he did not once tell me what kind of business. He is running or dealing with here in Ravencrest. Perhaps it's just that , HIS business. Which does not in the least include me, so decided to just have left it at that. I don't think I really need to know it's not like I have any romantic interest in him. Right?

We parted ways after he helped me take my stuff to my house and helped me get them inside.
" I'll be in contact with you again, have a goodnight Ezra" he says, pausing then walks away
" Goodnight Kane" I say back. Watching him leave.
