Grey P.O.V

Darkness. Complete Darkness. I don't entirely recall how I got here; I could only remember my last ascent into the Relictombs.

After diving down to the deepest part of the ocean—created by the Relictombs—I found a relic. It was different from the relics I had seen and gathered in the past. It didn't have any aether that should have normally emitted.

At first, I assumed it wasn't even a relic. Even a dead one had some aether signature; I would've left it alone if it wasn't for Regis' greed for a 'pretty stone' as he called it.

But, as this was aether, it was unpredictable, so I gave it a chance. I used Aroa's Requiem on the presumed relic, and that's when darkness appeared. It wasn't ordinary darkness; it was familiar, that was the frightening part of it.

It was exactly the same as back then, after my near-death experience with Cadell and Nico. I could only assume the same thing.

"Another metamorphosis," I thought.

But, does it matter, though? I had already risen to the pinnacle of power before my recent ascent. I only continued Relictomb ascents to gain more strength to suppress the asuras growing animosity between us.

With the enemy Vritras and me gone, they had no reason to attack Dicathen or Alacrya anymore; they could both finally live in peace.

"Perhaps... this was for the best."

Accepting my new fate, a cosmos of color suddenly invaded my vision. I wasn't sure what kind of new body I would acquire, but I was ready to accept it, whatever it may be.

My entire body felt numb as I awoke. There wasn't any sight worth seeing upon my awakening; only an empty alleyway appeared.

Like my first metamorphosis, I expected to see the sly shadowy wolf appear out of thin air, but instead, it was eerily quiet.

"Regis! Are you there?!" I mentally yelled, but nobody came.

Why wasn't Regis coming out?

Panicking, I continued trying to call for Regis to no avail. To make matters worse, I couldn't sense him either. He's connected to me; he lives off of me. If he isn't here, then I can only assume the worst.

"Regis..."

Preparing myself for the sea of grief to come, a boy with auburn hair and azure eyes appeared from the end of the alleyway.

"Poor thing, you must be in so much pain."
