Forget Me Not (A Midnight Story)

Chapter 12: Live-Forever

As she slid closer to her doom, Suimakuma grabbed onto the ledge, leaving her dangling over the molten steel. The flames were getting stronger and her grip was weakening by the minute. "Somebody help me!" she cried. Without thinking twice, Midnight grabbed onto the side railing and slowly made her way down to Suimakuma.

When she got close enough, she extended her arm out in front of her, "Here, take my hand!" Suimakuma looked ahead, completely dumbfounded, "What?" she called out. "Trust me!" Midnight called, "I'm not going to throw you in!" Suimakuma eventually grabbed her hand, and Midnight pulled her back up. Suimakuma was so confused, "What was that? I thought we were trying to kill each other!" Midnight caught her breath, "Well, I couldn't just leave you here to die!" she responded.

"Well unfortunately, it looks like I might have to do just that," Suimakuma said. She prepared to push Midnight back towards the flame. Just then, another explosion went off, knocking Suimakuma out cold and sending Midnight falling off the side of the ledge. Luckily, she missed the fire but was knocked out from the hard fall.

A few seconds later, Midnight came to. She was unscathed, but the flames were getting stronger. She had to get out immediately, but she knew she couldn't leave alone. She frantically searched the area. "Suimakuma!" she yelled, "Where are you?" No answer.

Eventually, Midnight looked up to where she had fallen from earlier. She saw Suimakuma pass out on the ground with more and more debris falling around her. Midnight rushed on up to carry her out of there. Even though she was her enemy, leaving her to die would not have been the heroic thing to do.

Once Midnight reached Suimakuma, she scooped her up in a bridal carry and rushed to find an exit. Time was running out and the building was going to go up in flames any second. Midnight tried to make her way to an exit, only for part of the ceiling to cave in right in front of her. She did not give up that easily and turned around to the other side. The path was still traversable and the R Rated Hero rushed as fast as she could. She had just made it out when..

KABOOM!

From a distance, the other heroes could hear the explosion. They rushed on out to investigate. When they arrived, the building was destroyed, with debris and small flames lying everywhere. "Miss Midnight?" Midoriya called, "MISS MIDNIGHT!". No answer. "Quick! Search the wreckage!" Deku yelled. The heroes rummaged through the rubble until they heard Momo scream. There lay Midnight, flat on her back, knocked out from the explosion. She was bleeding a little and felt cold and limp.

Yaoyorozu got down on her knees, "Miss Kayama!" she cried as she held her hand, "NO! I can't lose you! Not again!" The rest of the heroes looked down in despair. "I don't think Eri can bring her back again." Todoroki thought to himself, "This really is it!" Yaoyorou cried even harder, "Don't go out on me again!" Uraraka sat down right next to Momo and hugged her tight as they cried together. "I'm sorry I couldn't save you!" Momo sobbed, "I should have gone in there to help you!"

She heard some coughing. Midnight's eyes slightly opened as she caressed Yaoyorozou's face, "No, you were amazing. I'm so proud of you." Momo's face lit up, "YOU'RE ALIVE!". Midnight laughed, "More than ever! That was awesome!" Everybody cheered and hugged her. "Wait a minute," said Midoriya, "What about Suimakuma?" Midnight flirtatiously stroked his hair, "Don't worry sweetheart," she purred, "I got it all taken care of." She got up and looked around until she saw the demon lady, laying down on her face.

Just then, they could hear sirens approaching from the distance. Some fire engines and a fleet of police cars rolled up. One of the police officers stepped out of his car and approached the heroes, "You kids ok?" Midoriya nodded, "Yes sir, we're safe now." Midnight turned to him "Officer, I got this under control" The police officer's heart skipped a beat, "M-Midnight? I-I thought you-" Midnight butted in, "You know what can I say, I die hard!" Todoroki gestured towards the main building, "We managed to subdue some of the League of Villains in there. They are knocked out and awaiting justice."
