Moaning Myrtle

"JESUS Myrtle, scared the shit out of me." I breathed. I was talking to the lonely, ghost of a girl, who haunted the female bathrooms at Hogwarts. Another amazing thing about Hogwarts, the peculiar ghosts that accompanied it. Myrtle used to be a student here. She sadly and mysteriously passed away a very long time ago. Everyone calls her moaning Myrtle, and if you could hear her voice you would understand why. She had straight brown hair, tied into two low pigtails. She had a pale, slim face framed by her fringe, and it was all topped of with a pair of circular glasses. Most other students would say she was very annoying, and though she may not be the most pleasant person to talk to, I would never be so mean as to call her such names. She's been through enough already, clearly.
"I never thought I'd see Y/n flustered over some... some hoodie." She observed what I was holding. I rolled my eyes. I had only ever talked to Myrtle a couple times, whenever I came into the girl bathrooms. And as usual, she was being very nosey.
"...So who's is it?" she giggled.
"None of your business." I told her.
"Is it that boy, the one that came in here months ago with you, when you were puking?" She ignored me and began to make guesses.
"No, no it's not stalker." I hissed at her, as she continued to giggle. "I'm gonna go." I said politely. "See you later Myrtle." I waved to her, she mirrored my wave. And with that I left.

I walked down the schools hallway, trying to remember my next class. Turning a corner I bumped into a very kind and familiar face.
At first we crashed into one another, I was thrown a couple steps back. The fact that I could hardly walk, thanks to Mattheo, didn't help. Despite how desperately I tried to keep my balance, I was knocked over, and landed on my butt with a thud.
"Oh shoot, Im sor- Y/n?" Cedric asked while pulling me to my feet.
"Oh, hey bro." I said, glad I didn't just run into a complete stranger. I greeted him with a grin, which was returned.
"Sorry about that." He finished his sentence.
"Don't be." I shrugged. It was adorable how Cedric treated everybody, whether they were friends or not.  I don't know if it's because he's a Hufflepuff or just a very kind person.
"Aren't you supposed to be in class?" He asked me.
"I could ask you the same." I didn't answer his question.
"I asked first." He grinned.
"You asked first'? How old are you?!" I joked as we shared a laugh. "I was dismissed early, because my dead weight brother got attacked by a giant horse- bird." I explained badly. He tilted his head at me, processing what I had said.
"What about you?" I asked him.
"Ditched." He shrugged. I looked at him strangely. For some reason, I assumed that Cedric was a goodie two shoes in class.
"Really?!" I asked.
"No." He chuckled. "The Professor let us off early too." He said.
I mouthed the word 'oh.'
"Why were you so surprised? I could have ditched." He added.
"Sure!" I agreed with him. "... you just, kinda give me that teacher's pet vibe..."
"What?!" He seemed insulted at that comment. "Why? Because I'm a Hufflepuff?" He asked.
"...Maybe." I mumbled. He laughed at my awkwardness.
"That is a hurtful stereotype." He joked.
"Well I'm part Hufflepuff, so... I mean no offence by it." I said.
"What?"
I had forgotten he wasn't at the housing ceremony.
"Never mind." I said politely. "You excited for the tournament?" I changed the subject.
"Yeah... actually, I'm really nervous."
"What?! You are gonna do great! Don't tell anyone I said this, but I'm  betting on you winning." I joked. He laughed along.
We came to a stop at his classroom.
"Well, wish me luck for the first task tomorrow." He said.
TOMORROW?! I hadn't realised the contest was tomorrow. Time passed so fast. I waved at him hurriedly, before walking away anxiously.

I spent the rest of that day, thinking and worrying only about the tournament. Or I guess, more Mattheo than the tournament.
I didn't sleep very well either, which is the one thing I'm good at.
Pansy woke me up early the next morning, we headed to the dining hall for an early breakfast. We were all aware that it was the day, the first challenge of the tournament would happen. Dumbledore reminded us anyway. A lady showed up to our school, with a lady with short, curly, light blonde hair, glasses, and very vibrant clothing, came to our school. And with  a man with a large camera. She was introduced as the reporter, Rita Skeeter. She was here to write about the tournament.
During breakfast, we realised Mattheo was missing.
"Did he tell you guys where he went?" Pansy whispered to the boys. They both shook their heads.
"I don't think he even came back last night." Draco added.
"You don't think?!" I hissed.
"Maybe he's just getting ready for the challenge." Blaise suggested.
"But all of the other competitors are here." I added. We looked, Cedric and Harry were all there, so where was Mattheo? Breakfast time was ending, there had still been no sign of Mattheo.
"-It is now time for the chosen ones to prepare for the game." Dumbledore announced. The group shot concerned looks towards one another.
The other competitors stood and made their way to the out door tent they had set up for the game with the staff, while the other students went to the watching area. Draco, Blaise, Pansy and I followed them. Ms McGonagall spun around for a head count, immediately noticing the four tag alongs, and the missing chosen one.
"What are you doing?" She asked us. "And where is Mr Riddle?" She added.
"That's the thing Professor..." I started, choosing my words in my head very carefully. "None of us have seen Mattheo since yesterday..." I mumbled.
She instantly looked worried and looked around.
"Does anyone have any idea of where he might be?" She asked.
There was a silence between the five of us. Then it hit me. I could almost see the lightbulb go on above my head.
"I know!!" I said, and with that, I sprinted off.
