November 13th, 1997.
Today Mr.Holmes and I were called to a meeting with a woman whose husband went missing. She said she had no idea who else to talk to than I and Mr.Holmes. We started the case and looked for anything in the lady's house. Suddenly I heard Mr.Holmes shouting for me. I ran in a hurry to see what he had discovered. He had found a small bottle of what seemed to be a type of acid.
I quickly took the bottle and put it into a bag so I could analyze it back at my lab. Mr.Holmes started to search again then he found another clue when I was finished cleaning up the mysterious liquid. He had found an old cloth that had a blood stain on it and followed the trail of blood puddles. Then he discovered a secret passage under the ladys wool rug. We opened it together and found a small, narrow passageway under her house. We both lowered ourselves in and continued to follow the blood. Finally the passage led to a room that was made of stone.
Mr.Holmes used a match to light a torch on the other wall. I inspected an old parchment on a table in the far corner of the room. Suddenly Holmes called for me and then pointed to the body under a small chemistry table. I gasped because it was one of the missing children that has been missing for four months. We quickly put the child in an old sheet to bring it up and I grabbed the parchment right before we left the secret tunnel. The woman shrieked when she saw the child and ran to get the police, while Holmes and I placed the child on the ground.I quickly tried to find a pulse but the child had already been gone. Two days passed and the child's parents came to thank us for bringing their child back even though they had to bury her the next day. We apologize for not being able to save the poor girl but the two parents didn't accept our sympathy. They said it wasn't our fault and that they are grateful to know their daughter is at peace with their ancestors.
After they left I went back to my studies. I was puzzled at the fact a lady didn't know about the secret passage under her house, which is the only access point is in her living room. I personally questioned her and I could see she was no part in this scheme. My question though is "Who was?". Holmes locked himself in his room to think but he was locked up in there for five days. I finally broke the doorknob and opened the door to find him missing. I called his name but heard nothing.
Under his desk I found a note that said,"Hello Mr.Watson, I bet you are wondering where is your dear friend Mr.Holmes. Well he is not here or is he. I want you to deliver twenty thousand dollars to the statue in the park two miles north of your house and the next day return and you will find your friend. You have only forty-eight hours to complete this task if not Holmes Dies. Sincerely, Anonymous." I was shocked to find a ransom on my friend the great detective but also it isn't the first time I thought of it actually happening. I quickly went to the bank to see how much money I have but I only have two-hundred dollars. In my account so I started asking for a loan from the bank but they said that they can't loan over one hundred dollars a year. I took the loan and my money. I searched Holmes' house and found exactly 399,700 dollars in his secret bookshelf.
At sunset, I ran to the park but realized there were two statues. I put half of the money in one and half in the other.I climbed a tree in the park and waited to ambush Holmes kidnapper. It took four hours but then a strange man in a black cloak went to the second statue then the other and took the money twenty minutes later he dragged a man to the statue and tied him to it. I snuck up behind him and put him in a headlock. He started to fight but he wasn't that strong. I ended up knocking him out. I untied Holmes and tied the criminal to the tree I was hiding in.
I uncovered Holmes and found another child about the same age as the other little girl. I ran to the cloak figure and ripped the cloak to find the lady who called about her missing husband. Still knocked out. I ran back to the little boy and found the child was breathing. I was overjoyed that he was alive but at the same time worried about my dear friend. The police arrived and took the unconscious lady away and the boy was rushed to a hospital. The parents were so happy to find their little boy alive. They thanked me almost a hundred times. I walked over to the lady that was just then waking up and questioned her as hard as I could but she didn't talk at all. I was furious and felt as if I could scream as loud as a Banshee. I marched out of the hospital and went home after I returned the money to the bank. I paced back and forth about ten times.
