Chapter 5

~Ari~

I watched his back walk away until he was gone before I shut the door. My lips was still tingling from the kiss and I smiled, touching my lips. I walked back to my living room but immediately wished I didn't, because my brother and my best friend were in a heated lip lock when I walked in.

"EEEEWWW!!! STOP IT, STOP IT!! YOUR HURTING MY EYES!!!"

I yelled, slapping my hand over my eyes. Ew. I SO do not want to see them making out. Its just so .... gross. I heard chuckles at my tone, so I knew they stopped. I removed my hand and glared at them.

"What? Are we bothering you with our kissing? You should just mate with Kaine and then you can make out with him." Dare teased, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Dare, she just did. Didn't you heard her heart beating faster just now? Dead giveaway." Denise oh-so-helpfully joined in, giving me a wink. I felt my cheeks turn red. Ugh, damn enhanced hearing.

"You know I can hear you right?" Dare's voice was suddenly in my head. Oh shit. I forgot to block our mind link. Damn it.

"Alright, I'm going to my room before you guys start making out again." I fake shuddered. I gave them a smile before heading up to my room.

 "You're a pathetic excuse for a reaper!"

My dad, Mictian, sneered at me, whipping me. I grunted but I was otherwise silent.

"Not gonna make a sound are you? Lets see how long you can keep this up." He smiled sadistically.

Mictian is the God of Death, worshipped by the Aztecs. He enjoys torturing me and Dare. In fact, he does it everyday and only stops when we pass out. Being immortal, we can heal very fast and regenerate our body parts. Mictian is always thinking of ways to make us feel extreme pain. My brother and I have been locked up for about 200 years. I know because our father constantly brags about it. After whipping me for countless hours, he finally left. I felt relief fill my lungs before slumping to the ground. I stared at the floor of my cell, watching my blood stain the floor.

 I woke up, cold sweat dripping down my forehead. I closed my eyes, taking deep breaths to calm down. I wiped my forehead with the back of my hand. Alright Ari, its just a dream. Calm the hell down. I got out of my bed and looked at the clock to check the time. Four in the afternoon. I decided to go shopping for my disguise with Denise and Dare. I went into my bathroom and took a long soak to relax myself. After I finished soaking myself, I wrapped myself in a fluffy robe. 'This is life', I thought to myself. I could feel that the sun will only go down in about two hours, so I still had plenty of time to spare. Denise will only wake up when the sun goes down. I noticed the acoustic guitar near my bed in my periphery range and decided to play it. Its been really long since I last touched it, but music had always been my escape when I need to relax and think about stuff. I thought about my relationship with Kaine. Could I really trust him?

I took my guitar and began to strum it. I started singing, 'You' by The Pretty Reckless.

I finished the song and smiled. It helped to clear my head and my doubts about mating with Kaine. I heard someone moving into my room, and before I could see who it was, my blade was already in my hand and I tackled him to the ground.

"Oomph!"

I placed my knife at Kaine's throat.

"How many times must I tell you not to sneak up on me? I could have just cut your throat without looking!" I looked at Kaine, exasperated. Kaine just smirked at me. Asshole. Next time, I should just stab him.

"If this is what is take to get you on top of me, I will do it more often." Kaine winked at me, placing his hands on my waist.

I quickly realised that when I tackled him, I ended up straddling Kaine. I felt heat rushing up my cheeks and tried to get up.

But Kaine had other plans.

"Not so fast, love." Kaine stopped me by pulling me towards him. I lost balanced and ended up on his chest. Oh My God. How embarrassing can this get. I must have blushed again cause Kaine chuckled at me. Ugh. What is wrong with me? I don't blush!

"You look so kissable." Kaine murmured. Then he pulled me down and kissed me.

Holy shit.

Kaine bit my lower lip to ask for entrance to my mouth. Before I could stop myself, I opened it. I tried to stop but, Damn that guy can kiss. I stopped fighting him and pulled him closer. Kaine runned his hands down my arms before flipping me under him and kissing me deeper. I gasped into his mouth and moaned. We stopped when we had to come up for air. I just laid my head on his chest while we catch our breath.

"We should do more of this." Kaine said huskily. I smiled against his chest.

"Is Ari actually smiling? Oh my god, kill me now!" Kaine joked. I rolled my eyes at him and slapped him on his chest before getting up.

"Jerk." I said half heartedly, walking towards my acoustic guitar to put it back. Kaine followed me and wrapped his arms around me as I sat on bed.

"You sing really well." Kaine commented. I smiled, happy with the compliment.

"I'm going shopping for my disguise later, you wanna come?" I asked. Please say yes.

"Sure.We can pick up some sexy lingerie on the way." Kaine teased, but his eyes turned darker, belying his tone.

"We will be going with Dare and Denise. I'm sure my brother won't want to see me in sexy lingerie." I rolled my eyes.

Kaine just grinned at me and we decided to make good use of the remaining time we had.
