Once I made it out of the building, the energy from the explosion launched me forward causing me to hit my head on the ground and my vision to go black.

I woke up to my ears ringing and my vision blurred. I was laying down on my back and all I could focus on was the throbbing of my head. I looked to my left and saw the building partly destroyed and in flames. I then looked to my right and saw Bucky in the same position as me and his head turned in my direction but his eyes were closed.

I tried to get up to check on him but was pushed down by two soft yet firm hands. The hands then pulled my face to look at theirs. I was met with green eyes but they weren't cold like when I first saw them, this time they were warm and filled with worry and a little desperation. I then saw her lips moving which meant she was talking to me but I couldn't hear anything. I looked to my right again and saw Steve tending to Bucky, who seemed to be waking up. I then looked back at Natasha but saw what looked like her eyes glazing over. I couldn't tell if my eyes were tricking me but I didn't have the energy to try and find out. My eyes were starting to feel heavy and as I started to close them, Natasha gave my head a little shake which earned a grunt from me. Despite Natasha's attempts, I let myself succumb to the tiredness.

 Natasha's POV

No matter how hard I tried to keep Naomi awake, she didn't listen and closed her eyes. I picked her up bridal style and brought her to the jet to get checked out by Bruce. When I walked in with her, Wanda gasped at the sight. There was blood running down her best friend's face and even some coming out of her ears.

Once I sat her down on the table, Bruce hooked her up to some monitors which showed that her heart was still beating but was weak. He then started checking her eyes with a light and also her ears. He then started to clean and suture up the big cut on her forehead.

As he was doing this, I went and sat by Wanda and held her hand in an attempt to try and comfort her. I was just sitting there, staring at Naomi and feeling empty. Then I felt a tear start to roll down my cheek but quickly wiped it but not before Wanda saw it. When she was going to comment on it, Pietro walked in. I instantly walked over to him in rage.

"Why the hell would you take me instead of her?"

"She asked me to."

"I don't give a damn about what she asked you, it should've been her and not me!"

I was going to continue with my yelling but Steve walked in with Bucky who had his arm around his boyfriend's shoulder. As Bucky limped over with the help of Steve, he asked Bruce "How is she?"

"She definitely has a concussion and seems to also have temporary hearing loss from the explosion and impact but other than that she is fine and should wake up soon."

Bucky nodded and was going to leave but Steve spoke up.

"Buck, I think you also need to get checked out."

"Don't worry babe, I'm fine."

"I wasn't asking."

"But."

I couldn't help but smile at their bickering. They were like a married couple.

Bruce sat Bucky down in a chair and started to check him out and make sure he had no injuries. I opted to sit near Naomi and wait until she woke up. I don't know why I have been feeling so emotional over this but I also can't figure out why she did it. She hates me and I hate her, that's how it should be no matter how much I wish it was the opposite.

With a sigh, I turned to Naomi and checked out her features. even with a huge cut on her face, she was beautiful. Her skin was so soft and her lips were so puffy and kissable. I wanted her so bad but she doesn't want me so that's why I decided to be mean to her and make her hate me. I remember when she first walked into the meeting room and her beauty overtook me but I was able to keep it well hidden. Also at the time, I couldn't trust her but now all she has proven to me is that she is trustable and that she hates her father. I think we relate to each other more than I thought. I want to ask her more about her time in the red room because I don't ever remember seeing her. I also can't believe all the stuff she has been through in the red room and with hydra. That clip of them torturing her was horrific and it makes me think that she is stronger than she looks. The thoughts started to become overwhelming, so I decided to take a nap and wait till she woke.

 Naomi's POV

When I woke up, the first thing I noticed was that I was on the quinjet. I then noticed the slight pain on my forehead and when I went to put my hand on it, I felt stitches. I really hope they don't scar because I have enough of those. I then looked to my left and saw a peaceful Russian, asleep in a chair. I admired her features, being thankful that I could when she was in such a vulnerable state. She looked so at peace and stress-free.

My staring must have been noticeable because her eyes opened and met mine. She just stared at me with a warm gaze and it gave me so much comfort. I don't know how long we were staring at each other but Wanda's voice broke us out of our trance.

"Thank god you're awake. Can you hear me alright?"

"I-"

I couldn't help but wince at how dry my throat felt. Natasha took notice and went to get me some water. When she gave it to me, I gave her a simple nod.

After I finished taking a gulp, I said "It's ok, things seem a little quieter than usual."

Bruce then came out of nowhere and said "that's normal since you took a pretty hard hit. You have a minor concussion which means you need to take a little break from missions."

"Don't worry, I'm fine and I'll be ready for the next mission."

To prove my point, I tried to sit up but two hands shoved me back.

"Naomi, you need to stay down and relax. No missions."

"You don't control me, Romanoff."

It came out a little harsher than I meant but I hate it when people try to tell me what to do.

Steve then came in and said, "none of us control you but we do get to control what missions you go on, so if Bruce says no missions for a while then you don't get to go on missions for a while."

I rolled my eyes and just looked away from them all, showing my annoyance and ignorance.

"Do you always have to act so fucking childish? Stop being a brat and accept that you can't go on a mission princess."

"you're just mad that I saved your ass, Ms. Romanoff."

She just scoffed and left the room. Everyone else soon followed, realizing I was no longer in the mood to talk.

"Why do you always have to push her away and annoy her."

"Wanda, she hates me and there is no way she'll ever like me so why should I let myself get close to her to where I'll just end up broken."

"Things aren't always as they seem."

With that she left with the rest of the team, leaving me to my thoughts.
