"TONY."
Steve dropped the toasted bread he was holding. Tony? As in, the Tony Stark he had fought with in an airport two years ago? He turned to face Natasha, who was not looking at him, but instead was staring intensely at her hands.
"Nat, we need you," Tony said through the phone, trying to hide his desperation.
She frowned, thinking about how that was even possible. The Tony Stark, calling her for help? He even called her 'Nat' instead of 'Romanoff'. God, he must have messed up real bad.
"With what? Trying to get your ego down? Pepper threaten to divorce you or someth-."
"Nat, half of humanity is on the line here," Tony stated frantically, trying not to care about Natasha's savage insult. Natasha did not know whether to trust Tony's words. He was not exactly the trustable type, but would he really lie about something like this? Noticing the frantic tone in his voice when he talked, Natasha decided to trust Tony.
"Where are you?"
"So, there's a purple dude who wants to steal stones from us?" Steve asked, still confused about the situation. Natasha tilted her head, realising that he was right. "I can't believe we have to help Tony."
Natasha shrugged and sighed, leaning on the chair of the subway. She was going to need some rest if she was about to fight some aliens from another universe. She looked at Steve's lips, thinking of whether to attack them or not. She decided not to, as she would get tired.
She huffed, "I'm gonna take a nap."
Steve nodded and replied with concern, "Of course, it's a long ride, and I wouldn't want you getting tired. Get some sleep."
Giving Steve a smile, Natasha closed her eyes and fell asleep quickly. Looking at her peaceful face, Steve gently kissed her forehead and made sure harm was not in their way. 'I can finally kiss your forehead without thinking about anything else' he thought to himself
DING
"Nat, we're at our stop," Steve woke Natasha up. Slowly lifting her eyelids, Natasha felt the light beam on the subway staring at her. She rolled her eyes and pouted.
"Do we have to go?"
Steve chuckled, "Nat, I love you to death, and I would love for you to sleep like there's no tomorrow, but we have to kick some butt. I promise we can sleep later on, but only after we have some fun." Steve smirked cunningly.
"Alright, let's go."
