For my grandpa

You recently lost your life this Father's Day, you were like a father to me when i had nobody left to care for me.

For everyone who sees this, I want you to know not only how good of a man he was, but how strong he was too.
He was strong headed, but had a sensitive heart. He went through hell and back.
He cared for cats more than almost anything, except for me and my mother.
When I went to multiple in-patients, during call hours, he would always be sure to call to check in on me.
When I stayed with him recently, we did so many fun things together, and it was incredible.
On Father's Day, he lost his life.
I was in the same house when it happened.
I wonder if I had just checked on him that night, if I could've called 911 in time.
But he wouldn't want me to be sad, so instead I will honor him, this is him through the years, until his last picture.
My aunt, his other daughter had refused to speak to him since 2015.
He was long since divorced.
He would've died alone, but I'm glad that I could be there during his last few weeks, because I know that he wasn't alone.
And that's the way he would've wanted to go, with someone to care for him.
