Chapter 1: Ariella

I kick off into a sprint, trying desperately to reach the gates before the guards completely seal them up.

My feet are killing thanks to these damn heels I where 24/7. "Princess, halt!" They yell as they step and block my path to the giant gated exit.

"I'm so sorry..." I murmur to myself before taking a shoe off quickly and nailing the tall dark haired guard with its heel.

I keep running, leaving my now blood stained shoe behind me. Vicious hands claw at my skin, trying to grab me, nails causing red marks all over. They're closing the gates, I won't make it, I think to myself.

My hearts racing and I can here its sound pumping in my mind like a timer. Several guards block my way to the gates but I shove my way past violently, I feel my elbow hit a man square in the nose. I wince when it makes a crackling sound but don't look back. Trying hard to ignore the screams of pain from those innocent men.

I burst out the door just in time for the gates to close. The screeching sound of the doors rings in my mind on replay. The forest trail up ahead will take me to the city's centre, they're so many people I doubt anyone will notice me.

I pick up the skirt of my corseted ball gown and head towards the group of pine trees. The air is wet and sticky, making my long gold hair stick uncomfortably on my skin. I trudge through the dirt and mud with only one shoe, though the heels don't help anyway, they bloody hurt!

I finally decided after a few more minutes of my foot being tortured to toss it off. It lands in a pile of mud and I curse under my breath, I can't leave signs of my being here. I scramble to reach it before it gets completely drenched.

Somehow I loose my footing and trip over a giant tree root.
Landing me right down in a pile of mud. I pick up my shoe and slowly stand back up. My once stunning pink silk gown is now a home for pigs.

Just like that I continue my way to the city, in a mess of mud and pain.
