Recently I've been living in total shock, by recently I mean since last May when my closest friend got admitted into a psychiatric unit. She killed three people, triple homicide, and she showed no remorse in court; just confusion. One day I decided to go and see her since my schedule was open and I didn't want to do anything else. 'God this better be easy' I muttered to myself whilst hesitantly putting my keys into the ignition and driving off. When I got there they did the mandatory pat down and all, this was my first time so I was sort of nervous that I may have accidentally had something deemed as "contraband"; I didn't so I was free to go. They walked me to her cell and an officer stood watch outside of the door, giving us the slightest bit of privacy. "I don't understand why you killed them, they did nothing" I said in a soft sigh, she moved her hair in front of her face and hunched her shoulders. For a minute she didn't answer me, she just fiddled with her fingers, in her lap; I had no clue on what to say. "8 minutes" the guard boomed, semi- leaning into the room to make sure everything was fine. She began to mumble something, "I didn't kill them Claire..." she took long breaths in between phrases, she'd never done this before. "...You did". My face went pale, and I chuckled when she met her gaze with mine, "I know I did, but guess what hon, they'll never believe you". I teased her "Nobody will ever believe you, you're the one behind the glass wall". The guard peaked his head in "is something wrong in here ladies?". My face turned back to its original state just in time to face the guard "No sir, just reliving memories", he looked over to Harley, then back at me "alright continue". When I turned to face her again she was back playing with her hands and that's when I noticed a red light. My smile quickly vanished and a frown took its spot. She raised her hands from her thighs revealing a voice recorder and played my exact words aloud "I know I did, but guess what hon, they'll never believe you" the guard noticed the static-y sound and ran into the room, I don't remember any specific details due to the state of awe I was in, but all I know is he exclaimed into his walkie-talkie and hand cuffed us both, me and Harley, then asked her to replay the tape. I was the one behind the glass now...and she never came back to see me.
