Chapter 3
Salantro’s POV
What the hell is going on? I gawked as figures began to appear in the seats. I gripped the hilt of my sword, ready to draw it for any reason. The glowing stopped and the figures became clear. 10 people sat in front of me, two of the seats remained empty.
“There is no need to draw your sword Salantro.” The man seated in the middle said.
“W-who are you?” I stuttered, I stuttered, I freaking stuttered. What is wrong with me? Why do I feel nervous and scared? They are emitting a lot of power, so getting in fight with either of them would just be stupid.
Wait, how did he know my name?
“My name is Zeus, and I am your father.” The man said. Zeus? Isn’t Zeus a nonexistent Greek God, and my father at that? Who the hell is this guy?
Anger started to rise inside me. If this guy is Zeus, or even my father, then where was he when my mother died of illness?
I spoke my thoughts aloud, well more like shouted. I glared at him awaiting an answer. My expression softened though when I detected a hint of regret and pain flash across his eyes.
An attractive lady with eyes the color of blue irises, spoke, “She was mortal, and a waste of space. It was her time do die.” She informed coldly. My face contorted into anger as I tightened my fists. I’ve never been one to hit a girl but I think I’ll make an exception.
A beautiful girl spoke, interrupting me from my glaring and got my attention. “Perhaps we should start with some introductions. I’m Aphrodite Goddess of love and beauty.” Her voice was like music in my ears, like a soft melody played by a harp. She strode towards me with perfect grace, and held out her hand. I gently took it in mine and pecked the back of it with my lips, my infamous smirk plastered it self on my face. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Aphrodite.” She giggled; oh her giggle is just as perfect as her voice.
To my displeasure, her unique purple eyes looked away from my hazel ones, to look at her fellow Gods. “Well as you probably already know that’s Zeus, king of Gods, and the God of sky and thunder,” she said as she pointed at my father. “That is Hera, his wife and the Goddess of marriage and women,” she pointed at the lady who I don’t like very much at the moment, more quietly she added, “Please do not mind her, she dislikes all of the mortals Zeus has an affair with and despises their children.” She then pointed at a strong looking man with eyes as blue as the sea and a trident in his hand, “That is-” she began. “Poseidon” I said cutting her off. She nodded with a small smile.
She continued with the introductions until everyone was introduced.
I looked at Athena and Artemis, a scowl making its way across my face. “How come you never told me you were Goddesses?” I questioned. “It’s not like we were hiding it, you never asked,” Athena retorted, “If you weren’t so stubborn in believing that Gods and Goddesses exist you would have figured it out, or at least suspected it,” added Artemis.
“Why did you never tell me I was a demi-god before though?” I required.
“That was my decision,” Zeus finally decided to speak again; “Your mother and I thought it best not to tell you, we wanted you to have a choice.” “What choice? I started being trained by the time I could walk.” I dared to raise my voice.
“We wanted you to choose to be a hero or not, remember when you reached the age of ten, the girls and your mother gave you a choice to continue the training or not?”
I guess I did have a choice but still, by the time I was ten, fighting was second nature.
“But then why did you choose to tell me all this now?” I wondered aloud.
“Well son, I need your help.” My father replied.
“Why would I help you?” I queried.
“Because humanity lies with the decision you make today. If you turn down my request everything will be destroyed.”
I don’t know if I want to help but I am curious of why they need my assistance.
“Continue.” I demanded, becoming interested in the subject.
“You’re Uncle, my brother Hades, is planning to releases the Hyrmorphus”
“The what?”
“The Hyromorphus, is a hybrid monster created by Kronus and Rhea. It is said to be strong enough to defeat us and destroy the world. Luckily for us it was asleep during the war between the Gods and the Titans.”
“And what makes you think I can defeat it?” I pressed.
“Well. You can do something we can’t.”
Oh now I am curious. I nodded for him to go on.
“You see, us Gods can’t meddle with human affairs. We can’t be involved until the Hyromorphus is released,” he began to explain, “And we also can’t exactly stop him until he gets there to release it. There is something that can destroy the Hyromorphus though, and that’s where you come in.
“There is a sword that Hades, God of the Underworld; Poseidon, God of the sea and earth; and me, God of the sky all put our abilities together to create, and it was forged by my son Hephaestus,” he said pointing to the God seated by Aphrodite. “The sword was the divided into three pieces and given to us. Hades kept his piece safely with him in the underworld. Poseidon kept it in the sea so he can retrieve it at anytime, and mine was placed in a Labyrinth.
“You will have to get to the Underworld to recover Hades fragment, and journey to the Labyrinth for mine. Poseidon will just give you his.”
“Well that sounds easy enough.” I said after a moment of thought.
Zeus chuckled, “It sounds simple, but it is not. Hades has creatures down there that are dark and powerful. I will give you something to help get past the boat man but the rest will be difficult, being that we don’t know exactly where it is. And then there’s my piece, you will have to go to theMeranadeIslandto find the map of the Labyrinth; and you will also have to retrieve the thread of Jeramia Kronick. It is pretty much impossible to escape a Labryinth that’s why you need string to follow your way out.” He explained.
“Then I’ll do it, I’ve been itching for an adventure.” I claimed. Zeus smiled; he seemed pleased that I agreed so easily.
After a few more minutes of discussing terms and conditions, Poseidon gave me his piece of The Sword of Olympus, as they call it, and Zeus gave me a map of where I need to go to retrieve the needed items.
