An hour later, I had new bandages and some crutches that Tristan told me I wouldn’t need because he could carry me everywhere. I just laughed at him and got the crutches anyways. According to Mr. Jay, I would be all healed up by next Thursday. Shifters tended to be fast healers.
My parents said I could go back to school the next Monday and Jason would get my homework until then. Tristan refused to go to school until I was going back with him. He said he would spend the day with me. My parents only agreed because he could teach me the stuff that I was completely lost on. And I already had a week’s homework to make up.
I was on house-arrest until then as well. That part stank, but I knew I would have Tristan with me for most of it. He would still have to leave in the evening to go back to his house, but the rest of the time he would be with me. It might sound a little overbearing, but I was grateful for it. I had missed him.
Once I was done at the doctor’s, I sat in my car with Tristan. He got to drive; that was going to be one of the worst parts about being crippled. He started driving, but he wasn’t following my parent’s car. I looked over at him curiously. “Where are we going?”
“I need to show you something,” he said, sounding nervous, “I don’t want to have any more secrets.”
I blinked away my shock and smiled, “Okay.”
“Okay… that’s it?” He asked, sounding, and looking, surprised. I shrugged and remembered he probably didn’t see because he was driving.
“Well, yeah. What do you want me to say?” I watched him drive. It was fun to watch his face flicker with different emotions.
He hesitated. “I don’t know…” He glanced over and saw me staring at him, causing a smirk to spread onto his face. “Are you checking me out?”
“Maybe, I can do that though. You’re my boyfriend,” I reminded him. He smiled and nodded, placing a hand on my knee. I took it in my hand and interlaced our fingers.
His smile grew. “I love you, Angel.”
“What, no Ice Princess today?” I teased.
Tristan rolled his eyes at my question. “Just say it back.”
“I love you too Kitty Cat,” I told him, grinning. If he wasn’t going to call me Ice Princess, I wasn’t going to call him Kitten.
He laughed. “I guess that’s better than nothing.” I grinned as well and raised his hand up to my lips, kissing it. He raised an eyebrow. “What was that for?”
“No reason.”
Tristan glanced at me. “Okay. We’re here.” I looked up and saw that we were in front of a forest. Seriously, Tristan…?
I scowled. “Why are we here? Do you want us to be attacked? Because I will tell you now, it is not fun.”
“It’s just for a minute; we won’t get attacked. We can stay right by the edge of the forest alright?” I sighed and nodded. We got out of the car and Tristan sat me on the hood of my car. He kissed the corner of my lips. “I’ll be right back. I need to Shift.”
I nodded, trying to hide my confusion. “Okay. Hurry up.” He gave me a small smile and ran into the woods. I wrapped my arms around myself as I waited for him to get back. I couldn’t stop my eyes from darting around, looking for any possible threat.
Finally a tiger came out of the woods, but it wasn’t a normal one. He was a white Bengal tiger. I stared in shock and inched backwards on the hood of the car. He approached me slowly and I stared at him.
