you two were at a dinner at your families house. you had just finished eating and you were having a conversation with your sister while ethan was having a conversation with your parents.

you had two brothers. one you got along with really well, and the other one , not really. he always had his off days and he took it out on you.

you were having a conversation with your sister and from your left ear, you heard your name quietly come out of his mouth.

"has anyone noticed that y/n has a gut? she used to be so skinny, what happened ?" you heard him giggle.

your heart instantly shattered. you had always been careful about your weight because of how judgmental your family was.

y/s/n noticed that you weren't listening anymore.
"hey? you okay?" she said softly.

"yeah i'm fine.. i just have to use the restroom." you quickly got up from your seat and headed to the restroom.

you locked the door behind you and immediately started crying. not too loud because you didn't want anyone to hear you.

you took a look at your body in the long mirror. you hated yourself. everything about yourself. if you could have a different body, you would.

you started pinching at the skin on your stomach, crying even more. you put your head in your hands and leaned over the sink.

you suddenly heard a knock at the door. you recognized that knock anywhere.

"y/n hunny? you okay?" your mom said. she's always been worried about you ever since you were a little girl. your childhood wasn't sunshine and rainbows.

"yeah, mom i'm fine." you lied. she said okay and walked away.

ethan's pov

y/n's mom came from downstairs, walking over to me. she tapped on my shoulder and whispered in my ear.

"i think you should go check on y/n. she doesn't sound too good." she said worried. i nod my head and went to go check on her.

i knocked at the white door, hearing sniffles on the other side of it.

"y/n? baby, open the door." i said quietly. she unlocked the door, leaving me to open it. i opened it to see her mascara stained face from crying.

i instantly pulled her in my embrace, closing the door behind me. she sobbed louder into my shirt.

"sh sh sh. it's okay, baby. it's okay." i said into her hair. i kissed her forehead and let her cry until she calmed down.

"do you want to go home?" she nodded her head as i nodded mine.

"okay. you can go to the car, i'll go tell your family goodbye, okay?" i handed her the car keys from out of my pocket. she grabbed the car keys gently. i kissed her temple before letting her exit out of the bathroom.

i walked behind her , us going our separate ways at the end of the staircase. everyone turned to me so i decided to speak.

"hey, uh, me and y/n are going to go now. she's not feeling too well. i'll have her text you all." i said before walking away.

"psst. nothing new. she always leaves." y/b/n said. i decided to ignore him out of respect. i walked to the car where y/n was.

i hopped in the car, starting it, driving off. i locked my hand with y/n's rubbing the back of her hand with my thumb, relaxing her.

"baby, do you wanna tell me what happened?" i asked breaking the silence. it took her a few moments to speak but i let her have them.

"y/b/n made fun of my weight and nobody told him it was wrong or not nice.. like always. they all just play along. i'm just so tired of it." she said whispering the last part.

i sighed knowing what she was going to say. i was hoping it was something different.

i knew by the look in her face that she didn't want to talk about it anymore but i wanted to.

"baby.. i know it hurts. words hurt but soon, you're going to fall in this trap that you let people put you in and you're never going to get out of it. you're so perfect and i know you can't see what i see but i promise you, you're a piece of fucking gold. you've been through a lot and i'm here to help you with whatever, whenever. i'm always gonna be here. never leaving. you're weight is fine , y/n. nothing is wrong with it." i said still paying attention to the road.

i heard her sniffle , facing the window. we came to a stop at a red light. i grabbed her chin, facing her my way. i gently kissed her swollen lips.

" i love you, princess. i always will no matter what you look like." i looked into her eyes as she looked into mine.

"i love you too, eth." she said smiling.

"that's my girl." i kissed her one more time before focusing on the road again.

she's worth so much more than she thinks.
