ONE PENNY
One
One penny that lay on the palm of my hand.
It wasn't enough for that candy in the window.
I looked at the candy.
it was mouth watering to see
all the shiny lollypops
just waiting
they mocked you with their colors.
I looked at the penny and turned from the window.
My sister hugged her teddybear and looked at it
Sadly
I closed my hand and put the penny away.
If only I had enough.
