It Begins

This piece of writing is inspired by a book I read during school, and is technically an assignment. Hopefully, none of my classmates will find my Wattpad through my story. Other than my fear of that, I felt my story has a lot of potential and I really enjoyed creating it. The ending is a bit iffy, but if anyone wants me to keep the work going on I would gladly do it. Nevertheless the experimenting begins------

Seated in the caves of the council room of Utu, Rami yawned loudly, leaning back in her chair. "The moon is still beaming," she said, adjusting what was left of her tattered gown. I should really go on a supply hunt again, this dress is so worn. Her bare legs raised to the top of the table, crossing it in the process. "This better be important to awake me from my slumber."

"If you weren't so busy catching flies, perhaps you wouldn't be so exhausted," growled the werehyena standing across the table. She ignored her overbearing master and studied the expressions of the four other beasts assembled in the run-down cavern.

All godly, all beastly, faces that would terrify any human to wet themselves, far older than her by thousands of years. Reading the room, there were a set of anxious, infuriated, brash, self-conceited auras in this goddamn cavern. This meeting was apparently "undeniably" important. She'd known that from the moment, when blood-suckers panted like vacuums arriving at the tree she slept on, insisting Rami to quickly rush down to the meeting cavern. If the pants weren't enough, those blood-suckers decided to find a few meals through her skin, which inevitably woke Rami instantly.

Humbaba, the guardian of the Cedar Forest, caretaker of Rami, lounged at the head of the table, his horns sharp enough to stab through four puny humans. His deep void eyes met her, and he tried in efforts to smile. Her caretaker was more sickly looking, paler than usual, and worried, Rami could've sworn he was much brighter in the morning well, as much brighter he can be with the heavily wrinkled complexion of his. Her guts told her "danger", it was like churning butter in her stomach.

"We've gotten word from the Fae that Gilgamesh slashes his way into the forest," said Angrau, a Fae council member of Utu. Rami froze, Gilgamesh, that name who she knew too well. From what she's heard through her scavenger hunts in the villages, the humans speak stories of his tyranny, But it was also a name she loathes. "What is up with all the long faces?!," says the white tiger variant. "We are much stronger than that puny demigod, with my deathly claws, maiming is the pitiest I could do." We stared at Agli, he was known as the brawler, not the brains, and his decisions at a bar didn't do him justice at all. Well, as much justice as a white tiger beast in the form of a human would give. "You seem to be forgetting that this Gilgamesh has been killing our kind for thousands of years, not that all were powerful, but precautions are needed to be taken when approaching such a mortal," said Angrau, one of the wisest and best fighters of the council. Rami sighed through her nose. This was the reason why she'd been woken up? The result of the meeting would be the same, as all answers of beastly creatures would give, "Then just kill him," she said. "I for one have a bone to pick with Gilgamesh'', seething through her teeth, she sat up to leave, knowing this conversation did not need her at all. But the council had unsaid information vital to her but was left out of the conversation knowing that if she knew, the entire forest would be in chaos.

Humbaba was being targeted by Gilgamesh.
