tw/ drug use (idk if thats a topic i'm allowed to write about on here so ignore the bolded words they are keeping it less detailed) also I AM NOT PROMOTING DRUG USE PLEASE BE SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE
in tulsa education wasn't prioritized, at least not for harley and her friends. so although she wasn't failing school, she didn't see a reason to attend every day. this is probably how she had found herself walking across the south side with two-bit. she didn't remember why they were over there anyways. he had probably suggested it and she didn't object because she didn't think the socs cared enough to jump her. and that was probably true, but it was 12pm and they were the only greasers around. the rest was a blur to harley. a car pulled up. socs surrounded them. despite fighting from harley and two-bit trying to protect her, she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. she remembered waking up to being bounced up and down in two-bit's arms as he ran her to the curtis house. she remembered waking up to the creaking of the door. she remembered hearing darry ask if she was still there. she remembered not having the energy to respond. and she definitely remembered the sharp pain of the needle sewing up the cut left in her abdomen by the socs.
so now she found herself sitting on the couch. she looked around the room to see darry pacing back and fourth as two-bit recited what had happened. she also saw dally sitting on the armchair completely unfazed playing with his rings. she let out a groan grabbing the attention of the two older boys.
"shit i'm sorry harls i didn't know that was gonna happen."
"its okay two-bit dont worry about it." she said leaning her head back trying to ignore the throbbing pain that felt like it was suffocating her brain.
"are you okay?" darry asked and she responded with a simple nod. "just." he paused not wanting to treat the girl the same as his little brother but also wanting her to be safer "just stay safe okay." he said running a hand through his hair.
harley nodded once again. but that didn't stop darrys questions "do you remember what happened?"
"oh come on man i already told you." two-bit groaned.
"yeah and i wanna hear it again."
harleys head hurt even more as she tried to speak but she was cut off by none other than dally himself "lay off her darry, she appears to be fine, could maybe use a Tylenol but its nothing we don't see on a weekly basis." dally had a point. it happened to himself more than he would like to admit, even if he didn't lose fights he got pretty messed up quite often.
and with that darry nodded, realizing dally was right, and headed off to work. two-bit stayed and watched cartoons while harley drifted in and out of sleep. she wasn't sure if dally stayed the whole time but when she woke up he was there on the other end of the couch fiddling with matches, lighting one up and putting it out, then repeating.
"how long was i out" she asked rubbing her eyes.
"i dont know maybe a couple hours. come on i got something to help with the pain." he said grabbing her arm and pulling her off the couch. they entered the lot that would probably soon be occupied by ponyboy and johnny but right now they sat side by side next to a dumpster. "you don't have to hit it if you don't want to." he said before pulling something out of his pocket and lighting it. dally didn't typically smoke stuff, he was more of a cigarette type of guy but the idea of him getting high after being in fights made sense to harley.
she took it from the boy putting the non lit end between her lips and inhaling. "okay now take a breath," dally instructed, "hold it. and now let it out." harley smiled after seeming to do it and passed it back to dally who took a hit. when it came back to harley she hit it and immediately irrupted into a coughing fit. dally had a small smile on his face.
"what's so funny." harley groaned.
"the fact that you're so embarrassed." dally said his smile a bit more prominent as he watched the girls expression change. "coughing isn't a bad thing, it happens to everyone your just gonna get high faster."
despite how embarrassed it made her dally was right. by the time johnny and ponyboy arrived harley was very high. she always thought being high meant you were laughing and funny, and maybe it is, but right then it was not how she felt. the world was spinning around her and she felt heavy. she layed on the concrete, able to move, but feeling to heavy to want to try. she wanted to tell dally she felt sick and this was a mistake, but she slowly felt herself come back. it was an odd experience for sure, especially to experience with dallas winston who seemed perfectly fine. her eyes felt heavy but harley was able to sit up. "i think im gonna head home." she announced almost losing her balance as she sat up.
"i'll walk you" dally said furrowing his eyebrow, he was confused but admired that she was gonna do it. they walked in silence not really saying much. harley would almost trip over something causing a giggle, possibly a nervous one, and dally would smile a little bit causing those stupid butterflies to get set free in harleys stomach. they stayed that way until arriving upon her house.
"bye, thank you" harley said walking to her door.
"yeah, and that soc from earlier, don't worry about him, he's already on my list." dally said walking away before harley could even respond.a/n: i debated fixing this chapter because i'm pretty sure i can write about drug use but the bolded words always make me laugh when i reread this so i'm leaving it.
