Chapter 14

Today was the first day of play practise.
I went to school with the 'lets nail this shit' attitude and came back with a 'I wanna kill myself' feeling.

Katty was such an ass to me. She tripped me. Bad mouthed me. Tried to steal my role and let's not forget the deliberate make out sessions with Daniel in front of me. Like what even?! I thought that we could be friends.

"Sky? Hello?? Sky????" I heard the sound of the voicemail. On hearing that voice, my heart lit up. I ran towards the phone and picked up the phone receiver.

"Hello?! Hello? Dad!?" The excitement glimmered in my voice.

"Hi my pumpkin? Hows my baby?" My dad retaliated with the same enthusiasm.

"As good as ever daddy"i squealed with joy.

"Darling I'm coming back tomorrow" those were the sweetest words ever said.

"Oh my god!! Daddddyyyyy I'm so excited!"

"Give the phone to mum sweetheart?" I nodded and handed the phone receiver to my mother who was over whelmed with happiness as well.

As my mum indulged in a long conversation with my dad, I lost all hope of getting the receiver back. With a grumpy pout on my face and folded hands, I went back up the steps towards the room, thumping my feet on the way.

I shut the room door hard to show my irritation and sat on my bed still pouting and just staring at the blank ceiling.

"Psss psss" I heard a snake. And died of fear. Just kidding. I'm not that blonde.

I looked out of the window and viola to my surprise my dear lover, Daniel was below my house.

"What are you doing down there?" I giggled.

"Just waiting for my 'princess' to come down" he made air quotation signs while saying 'princess' so I knew has was making the Snow White reference.
'Cheapskate' I thought to myself.

"what if she says no?" I folded my arms and a grin danced on my lips.

"Well then princess, im gonna have to do something else." He put his hands on his hips.

"Best of luck prince. " I waved and walked back to to my room.
I was exhausted after play practise and just jumped on my bed face down . I had worn a pair of short shorts and a tank top over it. I left my naturally straight hair down and I had my converse snickers on.

"Ahhh" I made a loudish sound as soon as I felt some fingers on my back. I immediately turned my face and sat up on the bed.
"Daniel how did u enter?" I asked.

"I climbed the wall.."
I gave him a blank look.

"No princess, I came in through the door, your mother let me in." He dead panned.

I raised a brow and said "oh so now the prince and the wicked queen are on the same side, isn't it?"

"Only to obtain his princess. She's extremely stubborn and tough times call for tough measures right?" He sat down on the little space on the bed next to me.

"Hehe, so anyway why are u here?" I raised a brow.

"This answer is in two parts, firstly I wanted to personally come and thank you for calling a truce between us and forgiving me. Secondly, I want you to come with me now. " He gave me one of his ever famous puppy dog smiles.

"It's too late dan, I'll have to sneak out "
I put my hair behind my ear.

"So sneak out, smarty pants"

"It's a Friday night and I dont really have anything to do and my mom is going out for dinner to her friends place, so umm I think I may take you up on that offer" a satisfied look came on Daniels face.

"Yes! Okay so get up and doing now" he got up and extended his arms to help me up as well. I put my palms in his and he pulled me up.

"Okay so where are we going ? " I asked in curiosity.

"Secret secret" he said and we quietly descended the stairs outside the room and left the house.

Daniel had his high end mustang waiting there for me. On seeing it, I rolled my eyes and Daniel, being a gentleman opened the door for me, I got in.

"It's a half an hour drive" he said.
I gritted my teeth in disbelief.

"Don't worry p it's worth it"

Oh so in less than an hour, we went from Sky to princess to P. But after that day the name stuck. He ALWAYS called me p.

The drive wasnt that long. Daniel spoke to me continuously. His stupid jokes never failed to bring a smile on my face.

We spoke about his first date. Camp comodian. What he wants to become later in life and he also told me that he loved playing the guitar.

On hearing this, i insisted that he played for me sometime.

In no time we were there. It was flat land on a cliff. But the beauty of the place wasn't on the surface or the ground. It was in the sky. At that particular place there was a bajillion stars which lit up the night sky. The crescent moon was just overhead and shooting stars were falling one after the other. It was nothing like I had even seen before.

Just as we reached I hopped out of the car and stared at the sky. Little did I know was that Daniel was behind me. He took me near the car and we both sat on the bonnet just looking at the celestial bodies above. None of us uttered a word for a while. Then suddenly he went inside his car and got out a really old guitar. It was rusted at the end. I wondered why he used that guitar.

"You wanted me to play right?" He asked.
"Yes please"

"Here you go p" and he started playing 'what a wonderful world' by Louis Armstrong.

He played every note beautifully, ever strum, every chord. He sang the song and the words were so beautiful which decorated with his melodious voice was even more luminant.

'I see trees of green, red roses, too,
I see them bloom, for me and you
And I think to myself

I see skies of blue, and clouds of white,
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky,
Are also on the faces of people going by.
I see friends shaking hands, sayin', "How do you do?"
They're really sayin', "I love you."
I hear babies cryin'. I watch them grow.
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know🎶 🎶

And I think to myself

What a wonderful world'🎶 🎶

He ended the song with a smile on his face and a moist eye.

"My grandfather loved this song and this was his guitar. " He stared at the stars.

"Love-d?" I asked in a hushed tone.

"He passed away last year. We used to be very close. " he said , still holding the smile on his face.

"I'm sorry. " I didn't know what to say.

"Oh hush its not your fault, why are u apologising?" He giggled.

For the rest of the night none of us spoke a word. The silence said it all. We just stared at the sky and absorbed the beauty. The beauty was breath taking.

That night got Daniel and me closer. In a way that I can never understand. I felt complete around him. All my rage, sadness, envy vanished.

That day, daniel occupied a huge portion of my heart.
