Going through constant rejections and pointless heartbreaks, had its own effects on me, making me pretty heartless as some have described. I had a pretty nice glow up during some holidays and as my friends had said guys were basically kneeling at my feet. Now i was the one rejecting them. Many had tried to "melt my ice encased heart" and of course, failed. I lost interest in dating and started going to parties with friends, getting high, and bringing a different guy home every other night. I ended up having a pretty good time; getting along with friends, good grades and being happy with no interest in any man.
At this point, you probably realised that the whole thing was in the past tense. Because I'll tell you this now, things went downhill from then and onward.
Skip ahead maybe a week or two from there, it was a perfectly normal morning where I had English first thing in the morning and we got told that there will be a new transfer student from somewhere. I had stopped listening as soon as I heard it was a guy; most of my class was in fact guys but the remainder of the girls were pretty excited to see him. Bare in mind, most of the current ones were ugly and desperate anyways. We waited for about 10 minutes before he actually came into the class soaked from the rain that started pouring.
That was where a chip of my ice heart had broken off because he, oh my god, he is built like a god. Black hair curly and dripping from the water, brown eyes, his biceps and abs showing a bit too much through his wet shirt.
"Sorry, I'm late to my own introduction." Dear lord, his voice is deep. Before I managed to gather my thoughts on him he started to speak again
"My name is Ace Torrio, I'm from Italy and I hope we can all get along." I'm sure I heard that name somewhere before but I can't focus on anything apart from him. The teacher directs him to a free seat on the same row as mine but with a couple of seats between us. You could already hear the girls whispering and see them passing notes looking at him and their friends,
"Hey!" Talia, my best friend of nearly my whole life loudly whispers while violently poking my back. We met back when we were both 3 years old and became basically inseparable since then. Our friendship was like one of those super cliche ones where we both want to commit arson and we wouldn't care, it was pretty fun until it came to figuring out how to get out of the trouble. In class, though I was the quiet and focused one, whereas she was the loud one that never listened to the teacher. She sat behind me so it was easy to talk to her since she always threw notes over my shoulder in tests asking for answers or asking if I was good after another hung overnight.
"I saw you eyeing him up and down, I know you have something floating on your-" I shush her as the headteacher walks in, already death staring us.
"Like you, students have already been shown, you have a new member of your class and I as everyone knows by now, there will be a guide for them for the first week to help them get accustomed to the new school."
I started trailing off as I already knew everything she was going to say, going into my own world again. I was lucky enough to have my seat next to a window and when I'm pretty sure I was about to fall asleep I heard my name.
"Miss Swann, would you like to be Mr Torrio's guide?" I could already feel Talia's eyes glued on me waiting for an answer.
"Sure, I don't mind." Now not only were Talia's eyes, but it was every other girls' pair staring at me. The headteacher smiles, turns around, and walks out of the class leaving our English teacher to do his job.
"Welcome Mr Torrio, now then. Would everyone turn to the 7th chapter of the book and start reading from there to page 237, where we will discuss the information later." Everyone began reaching into their bags for their books when I get tapped on the shoulder by the guy next to me while he hands me a note:
"Glad to know you'll be my guide for the week gorgeous :)" I look over and Ace was sitting there looking at me with his deep, coffee eyes. He mouthed hi and I smiled and waved at him.
