The brunette bent over under the weight of his bundle, panting a little, as his haul was a bit bigger than usual. The moon shone dimly from halfway behind a fluff of clouds, stars barely as bright as her, and George couldn't help but smile.
Tonight had been a good night, nothing had gone wrong and everything was going smoothly. Only one more stop and he would be free to go home.
Finally the rush of the river could be heard from a bit ahead and George hurried to it, struggling a bit with his load. He brushed through a tangle of low hanging branches and stepped out onto the bank of a frothing, rushing river.
George dumped his bundle and sat down, catching his breath before having to continue with his task. He gazed awestruck up at the constellations twinkling merrily above the forest, them, never ceasing to amaze him.
After he had rested for a few minutes, George shuffled over to his bag and unzipped it, scrunching his nose at the stench of blood. He quickly slipped on some disposable gloves and unwrapped the body, pulling it out carefully, making sure it didn't touch the ground so as not to leave evidence.
As he tied a large weight he had brought along onto the body, he turned towards the churning river, holding the body over one shoulder and the weight in his free hand.
He went to throw the body of the man into the river when a rustle alerted his ears to another presence. George froze, who would be out here at this hour? Surely it's just an animal.
But as his eyes scanned the aligning side of the river, he felt shock run down his spine, his eyes widening considerably. Another man stood on the opposite side of the river, directly across from him. But what shook George the most, was that the other person was disposing of a body as well.
George stood frozen as the man copied his actions almost exactly as he had done before, and turned to face George, his jaw dropping as he noticed George watching him. The two men stood across from each other on the sides of the river and stared. Thoughts running wild throughout them both.
Finally, the stranger made the first move and threw his body into the river in one swift motion, still eyeing George carefully. George swallowed and did the same, brushing his hoodie off as he finished.
The silence was almost awkward, and George racked his brain for any ideas on how to worm his way out of this one. But before he could come with anything, the figure across the water saluted him and turned back towards the forest, quickly leaving with no traces.
Leaving George standing like an idiot, dumbfounded.
Well that's new.
