It was a disgraceful end, hurt outside of battle as a plan went awry. No soldiers around to get him to a medic, no enemies close to provide a swift death. Only time was left to kill him slowly and painfully, patiently watching blood trickle from his waist. He desperately pressed a hand to his abdomen, only extending the agony, but his palm was trying to hold on to a slither of hope.

Survival instinct is truly a delusional thing.

Yet his perseverance was answered as the distant rumbling of wheels and horses came closer. A hearse approached him from the corner of his eye. An elongated black carriage, matching the horses' fur, slowed down as it neared. Every window's curtains were drawn so Seungjun couldn't see inside, causing his eyes to fall on the driver and their neighbour, who carried an amused twinkle in his eye as he ordered to halt fully. Everything about him was annoyingly boastful, from the way he got off the carriage to the way he pranced over.
And the same arrogance carried through to his tone.

"A General?" the fancy looking man wondered, his black tailcoat resting on the ground as he crouched down. "Never thought I'd encounter you here."

While his vision was already starting to blur, Seungjun still tried to make sense of the figure looking down on him. His face seemed familiar, with large brown eyes and a smirk he had vaguely seen before in a paper. It took only seconds before it suddenly hit him. "You... I know you."

"Flattering."

Dick.

The mocking grin's owner was a little infamous in the news. Coming to money through unknown methods, seizing monopoly on trading routes and outplaying established competition into bankruptcy — rumours about Lee Changyun never failed to die down. A casanova all around or a criminal involved with all the wrong people, depending who you asked a different 'truth' was told. All that Seungjun knew for certain was that he already hated the smug face and the faction it belonged to. One of the main opponents.
Fights had been going on for a while, a war even Seungjun wasn't keen on continuing at times, but he had a pride that always pushed him forward through any battle. So he simply continued his duties as a renowned General, killing as he was ordered and working towards peace as he saw fit.

Although, even that had run its course. No matter how brave of a tone Seungjun tried to put up, his strength was fleeting. "Did—...did you come here to laugh at me?" he coughed and Changyun laughed under his breath.

"I didn't even know you would be here."

"You wouldn't... come onto a battlefield... for no reason," Seungjun said in between heavy breaths, every expansion of his lungs hurting his wounds.

"I did come here for a reason," Changyun hummed as he stood up, "not for you."

"Then pursue your 'reason' and leave me be."

A curious start twirled in Changyun's eyes. "Oh, I don't think so."

A few ladies came with a large white cloth attached to sticks, a medical contraption for carrying patients. The women were surprisingly skillful in getting Seungjun onto it, even with the protesting words and occasional tired kick he gave.

"What... are you planning with me?" Seungjun grumbled, glaring at the continuous smile on Changyun's face. Being moved made his consciousness fade further, yet he wasn't one to give in that easily.
