I ran through the woods with Xavier. We’ve been running for god knows how long, and the camp where the rest of our friends were was long gone. It was the middle of the night when we started running and it’s becoming light outside now. I stopped, trying to catch my breath.
“How much longer are we going to run?" I ask, trying to catch my breath.
Xavier and I had stopped behind a big oak tree, listening to the fighting between the two men chasing after us.
"Not much longer...hopefully," he whispers as we watch the men.
“Why us? Why did we have to be appealing to kill?” I snarl lowly under my breath as I turn back to Xavier, who was gone from his spot. He’s going to get himself killed. I sighed quietly.
Xavier screamed and I looked up just in time to see the Black Hood slice open his throat with the butcher knife in his hand. The Black Hood dropped Xavier onto the rough forest ground underneath us.
Blood oozed out of Xavier’s neck still as I turned, and then it was my turn to scream.
The River Killer had come up behind me and grabbed my head. “You’re turn,” he snarled and I took one last look at Xavier’s body as my head was twisted and my neck was broken.
