Thunder boomed from outside; rain pounded against (Y/N)'s window. She shivered beneath her covers, muffled whimpers escaping her mouth. (Y/N) was terrified of thunder - of storms altogether in fact - they were loud and scary and reminded her of all the bad things in the world.

Her hands trembled, clenching the duvet even tighter, as if the measly cotton could defend her from the evil she felt was brewing just outside her window.

Meanwhile, Jimin awoke.

The bright flashes of lighting broke through his curtains and lit up his room, intruding on his rest. They blinded him and he rubbed his eyes, trying to gather his jumbled, sleep-ridden thoughts.

Once he felt more awake, only one thought was on his mind.

(Y/N).

He pulled off his covers and hurried to her room, calling out her name on his way, only to hear no reply.

"Please let her be okay," he thought to himself, guilt gripping his chest as he regretted not checking the weather forecast the day before.

Jimin soon arrived at (Y/N)'s room and knocked on her door, not wanting to walk straight inside in case she had somehow managed to sleep through the sounds that he knew haunted her the most.

Yet again, he gained no response.

More worried than ever, he pushed the door open. His warm heart crumpled at what he saw.

(Y/N)'s shakes had now evolved into violent tremors that viciously tore through her curled-up figure. Her sobs, now choking gasps that relentlessly pierced Jimin's eardrums.

He was at her side in a matter of seconds, whispering sweet reassurances into her ear and drawing her terrified form against his chest.

He gently rubbed her back and pulled a blanket around the two of them, hoping the extra warmth could provide her even the barest of comforts, but (Y/N) was too far gone.

She was hyperventilating now, slipping deeper and deeper into hysteria and Jimin knew that he needed to calm her down, fast.

He pulled her body even tighter into his arms, desperately trying to help her feel as secure as possible, grounded. However, as he twisted her to face him, he saw that her eyes were still scrunched closed. Tears forced their way down her cheeks, their salty trails leaving a sickly sheen to her skin.

"(Y/N)? Love, I need you to look at me," Jimin tried, uncurling her fists and replacing their grip around his own. "You're safe, you're with me, you're okay- we're okay," He told her, knowing she needed that confirmation to slip out of the trance she'd been scared into.

Much to his relief, slowly, her sobs began to quieten. Still, he kept talking to her. Even about the most random things- like what food he was craving, or how he wanted to see the new marvel movie with her when it came out. He watched with relief as she slowly came back to him the more he spoke.

The entire time, he carefully rocked her back and forth in his arms, never letting her go.

A few more sniffles and shakes later, (Y/N) opened her tired, red-rimmed eyes. Looking back into them, were the concerned ones of Jimin.

She tried to speak but he voice was croaky with overuse, "'m sorry." She looked down, avoiding his worried gaze.

Jimin softly grabbed her chin, tilting her face back to his, "You don't ever need to be sorry for being scared, love," He told her firmly, "Our fears only make us stronger, and you baby, are the strongest person I'll ever know."
