Yet another Monday morning with the usual parents making coffee, dressing up in jogging pants and a white t-shirt and a cowlick on the side of his head, taking a groggy few steps down the stairs trying to make it to the bus stop. The usual day for me.
"Mooooom! I can't find my homework... Again."
"Did you check the dining room table?"
Jaeger sighs looking over at the dining room table again and snatching up his homework that wasn't there a moment before "You are magical."
As he looks over at her with a smile on her face she says, "Oh you have no idea."
Jaeger rolls his eyes as he jogs out the front door and thinks back to 3 years ago before high school when life was simpler as he jogs to the car just as his father starts the engine of their old 69 Camaro.
"Hey dad, mind if I walk today?" He Stares at his father through the glass meeting his gaze with sea green eyes as the garage door opens and his hair goes up in the draft.
"I swear, you seem to never run out of energy kiddo. Tell you what, how about we race? I'll drive on the back roads if you stick it to the woods. We'll see who gets there first. Deal?"
He Smiles smugly at his dad knowing the shortcut through the woods is only half the distance as the garage door finishes opening and he throws his things in the passenger seat through the open window "Aw c'mon dad you know that's not fair... For you."
Jaeger stares into his father's smile with a goofy grin as his dad revs the engine and begins to back up with his dad yelling out the window taking off, "Race Ya!"
He Watches his dad go and as soon as his dad hits the corner to turn he takes off through his trail in the woods with a happy yell looking around at the familiar sights.
Jaeger ran through the woods with the wind rippling through his brown hair and shirt beginning to drip with sweat as he ran with his dad zooming through the back way to the school.
As he reaches the part of the woods that parallels the road seeing his dad coming up behind him and hammers down on the speed sprinting as fast as his legs will go and reaches the front of the school breathing heavily just as his dad pulls up beside him.
"Dang kid, you're pretty damn fast for a giant."
Smiles cheekily "I told you it wouldn't be fair."
Watches his dad grab his things and smile at him as his bookbag gets tossed into his hands from the curb "Fine, next time I won't go easy on you."
"Deal."
One thing to get straight before continuing with the story. Jaeger and his friends are not exactly... Popular among the school. Generally Jaeger simply watches the people around him talking politely but making sure the more aggressive kids at school are kept in line. He stands at around 6'5 and is built similarly to a skinny football player. Generally toned, but not one of the most athletic kids at school, he hangs around his friends and enjoys spending quiet time with them.
Then there's Keith. Keith was very interesting, built at around 5'11 and overall pretty fit though he had a rather dark and moody side if you pissed him off. and had their own little gang around the school generally keeping the bullies in line but also getting into some mischief every once and a while.
Next, there's Tyson. Tyson is Keith's right hand man and is generally there whenever he's needed. Him and Keith hang out on the daily and have their own little group outside of school. Standing about 6'2 and looming over everyone but Jaeger, they generally have an aggressive rivalry with Keith and/or Luna having to break them up every once and a while.
Finally there's Luna, standing around 5'2 and the shortest of the group. She is built like a tiny football player and can pull power when she feels like it. She has a slightly mischievous look some of the time and a very curious attitude. She is generally shy around new people and crowds, but enjoys relaxing with her friends out in the woods. Anyways, back to the story.
He Smiles happily before realizing that it's Monday again and groans walking into the high school and staring at all the different groups of people.
"Ah yes another day of highsc-" Jaeger suddenly gets shoved into the ground as one of three of the more aggressive bullies walk into the high school. One of them being Andrew standing at the same height of Tyson and with the football player build is the strongest of their group. The other two lackeys are a rounder, shorter kid and a skinny silent kid who simply does what he is told. All three of them are the high school bullies and go around picking on other kids and messing with the cheerleaders. Jaeger shoves them off as Keith and Tyson also get dropped off by their parents and come walking into the school and stare at Jaeger with Luna walking around the corner as well.
He thinks to himself with a grumble pissed off at how he fell in front of all his friends and half the school with an annoyed look on his face standing up and glaring at the bullies saying, "Thank you may I have another?"
Keith and Tyson walk over behind him with curious and aggressive looks as Luna stands there staring completely confused as to what just happened. The smaller pudgy one looks over at Luna and the other two now standing behind him with a stupid grin. "Look it's tree and the twigs."
Jaeger glares at him angrily. "That all you got bowling ball?"
The other kid goes to respond as the bell rings and teachers heads pop out of the doorways looking for their late students on the last day.
The larger of the two stares directly at Keith and shoves past Luna on his way to class with his two lackeys following with sneers of their own. As Keith and Tyson head over to their first period talking about the encounter, Luna walks up to Jaeger and they have a short conversation catching her up on what just happened. As they walk through the halls they see Keith and Tyson standing in the hall watching over the bullies, and the final bell rings starting the day.
