Of course her girl Mavis would message her after the "Sudden Disappearances of Mistie" happened again. She rolled her eyes and giggled as her phone began buzzing more and more; the longer Mistie didn't answer, the more persistently her phone vibrated. Grabbing her phone, she didn't even need to look at the previous texts to know what Mavi needed; which was to know Mistie was still alive.
I died eons ago, how dare you disrupt my peaceful rest. Mistie typed out with a giggle and hit send. It wasn't long before Mavis replied.
"I am so sorry, grateful dead but you're my dearest girlfriend and when my girl hasn't been around for the last WEEK AND A HALF, I get a bit concerned. Where the hell have you been?!?! >:(" Mavis got pretty worried if Mistie hadn't checked in for a while, and now that Mistie thought about it, time really did fly by. She typed a quick apology and asked if Mavis would be up to come over and hang out for a little and of course Mavis replied with an excited YES!
It wasn't long before she arrived, knocking on the main door to be let in. Since Mavis was around more often than not, Dad got into the habit of simply opening the door and stepping aside to allow her entrance. Mavis would exchange a few words before coming up to Mistie's quarters and she bursts in.
"Okay, what happened this time?" She came in and sat right down on Mistie's bed, not even closing the door as usual. With a sigh, Mistie stood and closed it herself and when she'd turned around, she screeched as she seen the book of Vampires in Mavis's hands and she was moments away from opening it.
"MAVI, DON'T OPEN THAT BOOK!" Mistie exclaimed as she zipped to her and snagged the book within the blink of an eye - shit.
"Scratch that last question, WHAT THE FUCK," Mavis stared at Mistie with widened eyes, shocked at her sudden speed, "When the heck did you get super speedy? And what's that book, a diary or something??" she crossed her arms and awaited her answers. Mistie took a deep breath and sat down next to her bestie and set the book on her lap, a bit nervous but ready to confess.
"Okay but, like... You cannot flip out." Mavis nodded slowly, so Mistie began to explain...
After several long minutes and questions from Mavis, Mistie had stood up and set the book in a box deep in her closet, staring at it.
"So, basically, opening that book equals becoming a bloodsucker?" Mistie looked up as Mavi continued, "What if you opened the book and read it TO me? You've already got the 'curse' so I couldn't be at risk if I just listened, right?" A brief moment of silence as Mistie picked the book back up and skimmed the pages, seeing if anything specific that much but coming up with no real answer.
"Hmm..." She shrugged and sat down with the book again, opening it up while keeping the cover directed toward Mavis and she began to read the first paragraph: "This book has been created to inform mortal beings of us and to continue our existence, as we may not survive this War. Don't worry, the transformation isn't painful and you will find that there's much to learn about your new life..."

Mavis had ended up curled up next to Mistie as she was reading, drifting in and out of consciousness. The sun had finally set, and so Mistie put the book away and nudged her sleepy company, gesturing to the window.
"No more fun in the sun, huh?" She yawned and stretched as she sat up. When she opened her mouth however, Mistie notices two little fangs beginning to grow, causing Mistie's heart to hit the floor. "Eh? What's that look for?" Mavis inquires and when Mistie pointed at her own sharpened canines, well...
"I am so sorry..."
"For what, exactly? Turning me into your official BGFF?" Mavis smirks, now flaunting the baby fangs, "I see no downfall, vamp's aren't what people thought them to be, right?"
"Maybe the old and long gone vampires are so who knows what my finding of this book has done now, I could have released a super angry spirit or awoken some ancient Vampire Lord," Mistie stops, looking up at Mavis and seeing her nonchalant expression.
"Yeah but now we aren't mortal; we could totally kick some old dudes butt!" Mavis punches the air, gaining a little giggle from her girl. Mistie thought for a moment and shrugged, Mavi had a point. If they practiced and honed in on their new powers, they would be a pretty kickass team. Mistie looked down at her little skull-shaped watch; 7:36am. She should message Eddie and see if he's on his breaks that he so often "forgot" to take. Mavis handed her phone over, knowing exactly what Mist was thinking.
"You know how much of a workaholic he is," Mistie huffed as she took her phone and clicked it on. Several new messages from Eddie-Weddie (a nickname in her phone for him) and each one was a check in, excited ramblings or what other parts of Hannibal are inconsistent for the day, even though Mistie'd heard it all before. Just another day for Ed while at work. She giggled as she read the first five messages:
Otw to buy myself a new plush because my favourite one is missing from my bed ):<
I'm talking about you
do. You get it
lol jk I'm not mad (:
I JUST STEPPED ON MY TOASTOnce The Daily Ed had been taken care of, Misie and Mavis headed out to a nearby 24 hour café, just around the corner from Mistie's place. The dark oak floors, warm lighting and hint of freshly brewed coffee wrapped around the two ladies instantly as they settled into a back booth. Setting the book of Vampires onto the hardwood table, Mistie continued reading from the last spot she'd been in while in her bedroom with Mavi, while sitting comfortably close to her girl.
"Okay, since I already read past this entire section, I'm just going to Summarize this for you," She points at a hand drawn sketch on the old papyrus, a very strange looking but cool ass gothic mansion and continues, "this is the Great Hall of Count Blo'dvic, and it is an ancient resting place. Doesn't this mansion look familiar?" Mavis picked up the book and stared at it, squinting as she tried to remember if this mansion rang any bells; and it did after a second. They looked up as a little bell rang and Mavis lowered the book and peeked around as a tall man walked up to them. Another friendly face, it was none other than Malachite Devereaux.
