I wake to the sound of my alarm clock. Grunting I roll over in my bed and hit the button that lets the little clock know I am indeed awake. I sit up and rub the sleep out of my eyes. Without looking I reach to grab my phone. Instead my hand grips around a cold, slim key. All of the sudden wide awake I look down into my hand. A rusted and very old key lays in my hand. I look at my nightstand to get my phone. What I did not expect to find was a note book. On the sheet of paper the notebook was open to lay the 5 words that would change my life forever. In not so neat handwriting it says: You Know What to do. No no no no I think. I have been dreading this day for the past 16 years of my life. Training day. Not any training.  Witch Day. I live in a house full of them. Every since the Salem Witch Trials our family has been keen on not letting anybody find out about us. So if we fail our training we get our powers taken away from us and our memories swiped from ever thinking witches existed. “Nan, time for breakfast,” my mom shouts from the kitchen below me. Little does my mom know I got her Mom’s genes. Mom had never been a witch and never thought I would. The society told me to never tell my parents. My mission is to steal the gem that will restore power to witches all around the world. “Give me a minute Mom, I’ll be right down,” I yell back so she does not get suspicious. So basically the people I have to steal this gem from have been sucking the power out of witches and making them evil. We call these people the Exos and there leader Zelf will stop at nothing to make sure every last one of us is evil or dead. I open my white bedroom door, and turn right towards the staircase. I walk down the finished wood stairs shivering at the coldness of them on my bare feet. “Hey, mom,” I say when I get in the kitchen “I’m not feeling hungry right now. Maybe later but I am gonna go get some more rest, I’m not feeling to well.” “Okay sweety rest up, and I’ll heat you something up later,” she replies looking worried. I walk back up the stairs. I have to get ready for my mission and meet the Society at the place they will give me directions to. I quickly pull on my skinny jeans with holes in the knees, Chuck Taylors, black hoodie, and put my black-blue hair in a braid. I stick the key in my pocket along with my phone. I move swiftly to my window and unlock the hatch. I pull open the window and as the cool fall air hits my face I inhale deeply. Now how do I get of this roof. I move to the far right edge and look over. At Least a 20 foot drop. So not happening. I go to the left side. 20 feet. This is turning out great for me. As i move towards my backyard my phone buzzes in my pocket. I reach into my pocket and pull out my phone. I click the power button on the top and look at the screen. I have a text from a blocked number:South Michigan street (The Alley) you have 25 min. Knowing that if I keep thinking about jumping off this roof I am never going to get to the location intime i make a moments decision and jump as far as I can. I yelp in pain as my ankle lands on my cement patio and I roll to the left causing my jeans to rip even more. “Great landing,” says a sarcastic voice from behind me. I turn and a boy stands there. He is only a couple inches taller than me with beady blue eyes and medium length blonde-brown hair. “Who are you and what are you doing in my backyard,” I ask the stranger. He just smirks. “I am Kyle and there is no reason to get sassy with me young lady when I can get you to South Michigan Ave. in about 15 seconds,” he replies with coolness in his voice. “ How do you know about that?” I ask. “Because I got directions to your house saying that you had another set of directions that would take us to the Society so we can complete our training mission,” he answers matter-of-factly. I wanted more answers. So I asked one more question. “What are you like a warlock or a wizard or something.” He starts walking towards the fence door which will lead to the side walk which will lead to South Michigan Ave. “I am a warlock. Wizards are like that one Harry kid who lives under the steps,” he says. “Now grab my hand and lets go.”
