The Adventurous Adventures of Sally Cooper

It all started on a dismal Monday morning.

Without doubt, like always in Britain, the sky was chucking down rain as if we were dehydrated dying orphans in Africa, who wanted a pleasant swim. It’s not like that was surprising. In fact, nothing surprised me these days. Everyday everything was the same for me, the same apartment, the same shops, the same people, even the same food! I’m practically living in clone land, where nearly everyone had the same clothes just because we only have two shops in our entire town that sells them. It was completely tiresome, but I wasn’t expecting it to change.

He came barging into my once silent office, like a magical, honourable prince on his majestic rainbow winged unicorn, screeching my name as if the wicked dragon of evil was clawing me to death.

To be honest, it freaked me out. I did not get what was happening; this was not normal. Hot freaky guys just don’t come barging into your office while you are working, like a normal human being and drag you off down the back stairs. They don’t start waving huge rifles around. In addition, they most definitely don’t throw bottles of chloroform at you and force you to hide them in your cloned backpack. Last of all they do not blindfold you and shove you into a stolen car, while screaming about a selection of ‘demented gang leaders.’

It was extremely weird. Who would have expected this to happen to me? Sally Cooper, the uninteresting twenty-something year old girl, living in the only dreary town, where you can’t walk to work without shaving your armpits unless you want everyone to find out.

It was insane. The guy was insane. He had a fricking gun. No one, not even the craziest fool in the whole universe would have a gun, in my awfully nonviolent fun-sucking town. No one would ever dream what happened to me that morning was even real. And you know what? I’m glad it did because what started out to be a typical Monday, was the day he came and changed it all for me. My life was no longer the average life of Sally Cooper. It was now the adventurous adventures of Sally Cooper, the awkward spy of the century.

However, another thing that shocked me to the core that morning, and completely blew my mind up (like my skirt this morning) was the first real sentence the guy with the gun said to me.

“I’m pretty sure two out of every three gang leaders in Britain want to kill you.”

Therefore, I replied.

“That’s a lot of people.”
