" Hush little baby don't you cry. Mamas gonna' sing you a lullaby" That song had gotten Egypt to shut up a lot of times as an infant and child. Her mom would sing and sometimes hum it to her whenever she got fussy over sleep. She used to sing about everything but that song carried with Egypt.

She sung it whenever she was scared, whenever she couldn't sleep and whenever she felt troubled. It was her way of feeling nurtured. But as oddly as it sounded, she never sung it unconsciously. She hugged every word and every note. Occasionally restarting the song even whenever she forgot something.

But never unconsciously, yet it was the only thing she could hear. That is, until her senses alerted her to open her eyes. She felt like she was returning from the dead. The sound of something beeping filled her ears. Her whole body throbbed as if she had been working out nonstop for hours. Her head pounded and if she even thought about moving, her body would go into shock.

Flickering her eyes open, she shut them quickly due to the bright light. Trying again, she slowly opened her lids. It was very blurry at first, but her 20/20 slowly did it's job as she began recognizing that she was in a hospital room. The beeping noises she heard had been the machines.

" Oh thank Heavens!" She heard a familiar voice say. Putting her at more shocks when she realized who it was.

"M...," She opened her mouth to speak but her tongue clung to the roof of her mouth.

" Get her some water Larry," That same voice had instructed. It had been her mother. She hadn't seen her in ages. It had been 3 years since they last spoke.

Sipping on the straw in front of her, she chugged the water greedily, almost choking.

" Wh-What why are yo-," Egypt spoke with rasp. It felt like she hadn't used her voice in ages.

"Oh I see you are awake. I'm going to have to ask you guys to leave momentarily. I have to get a few tests ran on Ms. Blantely," A nurse entered, interrupting a much needed conversation. Once her mother was gone, she began to speak.

" Why am I here?" She managed out, still not moving. Her body felt heavily sedated and sore.

" You don't remember?" The nurse asked walking over to her, checking her blood pressure.

" I remember leaving from work and going home. I remember going up my stairs and urinating. My baby had been sitting on my bla- my baby! Is it- Is it," Egypt could not verbally get her words together as she replayed the scene in her head. Glancing into the nurse's eyes, her heart dropped its head. She knew that look only meant one thing.

" Let's get some more test ran on you okay?" The nurse diverted, knowing it wasn't her place or position to disclose that type of info.

*********

After hours of endless tests being ran, Egypt still had that burning question. Was her baby okay? That was the only thing she was concerned with. Nurse after nurse had come, but neither supplied her with a answer.

Body wise, she felt severely robbed. It was a feeling of emptiness, not the warmth feeling she'd been feeling when she'd first found out she was bearing her first child. Not the feeling she had when she knew it was something in there.

" Ms. Blantely, I am Doctor Eli. I see you have completed all of your tests. I just came in to disclose your results," The male doctor introduced. He looked to be a middle aged Caucasian man. He seemed very tired, but it didn't affect his professional manner.

" I only want to know about my baby," She responded, sitting up and clinging on to a little hope. Sighing, he pushed his glasses closer to his face.

" Because of the severe blows and bruising your stomach area received, he was not able to make it. I am terribly sorry," The doctor apologized, his face displaying dread.

Egypt sat there not making a peep, slowly digesting every word that was in ear-sight of her. Once again, she knew the answer to her own question. She was walking on the little faith that she had left.

To hear it be said to her, she couldn't handle it. She wanted to have so many mini breakdowns at once that her body went numb from trying to feel at least one of those emotions.

" It- It....It was a boy," She questioned, teary eyed. She knew of her sins, so she didn't talk to God. She knew whatever happened to her was owed and she accepted that Somewhere deep down she knew it was probably for the better. However, he was completely innocent in this. She was beginning to feel his warmth and love for her. For a minute, she knew everything would work out for the better. She was actually getting someone to look up to her as a superhero.

She felt empty, but all she could do was silently cry and think about how this happened. That whole scenery rushed her. The look in Reese's wife eyes haunted her as she repeatedly stomped her belly. Her future football player didn't make it and it injured her  spirit to the core. She didn't feel like the victim, her child was. He was murdered.

What killed her was how she begged for Reese to help. It's true that this was his wife, but that was his child still. Out of all the times he professed his love to her, he showed it when he left her for dead. But what really caught her ear was his wife calling her a stalker. She was a lot of things, but a stalker was never her description.

" Ms. Blantely? Did you hear what I said?" An officer asked, watching her with sad eyes.

" What?" She asked, realizing she'd been staring out of space for the longest.

" I asked did you remember who did this to you? Your home cameras were off, so it did not catch a recording around the time of the reported. And your neighbors don't recall the incident. They were only aware of screams and ironically never checked it out," The officer explained.

" No...I don't remember," She lied through her teeth. If anyone would avenge her unborn, it would be her. Reese would definitely feel her pain.

That was something she promised herself.
