I clenched the sheets and groaned - I was supposed to be screaming, but somehow my body would not do as I want.
I cried as hard as I could and ran as fast I could bring my feet to run. My breathing was shallow as a puddle and my sweat glands were working triple times the normal rate.
I looked back and saw just the shadow of my chaser; a creepy tall silhouette. I looked in front of me and got smacked square in the face against a hard warm wall, and fell on the damp ground.
I looked up..and cursed myself for doing it. Just the shadow standing over me. I cannot make out a single feature except for that wide grin that sent chills down my spine.
I squeezed my eyes shut and screamed as hard as I could. He - or she - gripped my shoulders and shook me back and forth, and I was just frozen. I could not bring myself to struggle or fight him off. I just kept on screaming.
"Amber!"
I gasped, and snapped my eyes open. My eyes met my concerned mother's.
I sighed and pulled her to hug, "Thank God, it was just a dream."
"It's okay now. It's over." She rested her chin on my head and caressed my hair up and down, making me calm down like she always does.
I have a long history with the nightmares. They all would somehow match and include the same people and events, but they always succeed at making my parents hear my screams from six rooms away.
Yes, my home is kind of big.
My parents found no choice but to make me accept psychiatric help. But the doctors always wrote me certain pills to take, but no difference whatsoever was made.
I had to accept the fact that I may always have these nightmares. At least I won't have these types of events in real life...
