AMBER'S POV
We were all sitting at the dining table waiting to say grace when in walks the boy that kept staring at me from school; I still didn't know his name yet. When his mother scolded him for being late I found out his name was Josiah.

The only chair left was by me and I noticed that Josiah was searching for any other seat than the one next to me. Seeing that it was the only one left he made his way over, scooted the chair next to me as far as possible, then sat down starring at his plate. Everyone was talking, laughing, and having a good getting to know each other.

I looked over toward Josiah and notice him picking at his food not saying much. I decided to see if I could start a conversation with him. "Hi," I say turning to look at him. "Hmmm? Oh h-hi" he said almost choking on his food. "My name is Amber," I say holding out my hand for him to shake. "Josiah," he says keeping his hands in his lap.

"Mom, may I be excused?" Josiah says looking kind of uncomfortable. "Sure" says his mom. I see him get up and leave hearing him walk up the stairs and close his bedroom door. He didn't come out the rest of the evening me and my family were visiting.

JOSIAH'S POV
Why did I get up and leave? I thought to my self as I closed my bedroom door. That had to look very cowardly.
Since I was in my bedroom there wasn't much to do so I laid down in my bed, plugged my head phones into my phone, and decided to wait till they left.

When I awoke it was morning. The sun was shining through the window, my phone was dead, my ear buds had evidently fallen out of my ears while I slept. Today was a start of a new day, I was determined to get over my shyness.

Since today was the weekend I decided to do some research. I grabbed my laptop and googled wikihow and did a search. How To Overcome Shyness. This is pretty dumb, I thought to my self. why would I smart, talented, kind of handsome guy be so shy around girls.

"Josiah," my mom yells from down stares. "what are you doing"? "Nothing, mom." I yell back, not wanting her to know what I was doing. I would be so embarrassed if she were to find out.
