Tommy POV
I sat on the edge of the bed watching as Tubbo sobbed into Ranboo's arms and tried to explain what happened through broken hiccups. It hurts to sit there and watch your best friend tell your other best friend he got bit by a zombie and no one knows what to do about it. All I could do was sit and listen as Tubbo's voice broke, the hurt evident in his tone. I couldn't even imagine what tubbo was going through. Sure I was close to Ranboo too but it was nothing like what Tubbo had with him. There was something between them, something I would probably never even understand. I stood up no longer able to be in the same room as the other two.
"I'm going on a walk. I'll be back soon, probably." I mumbled on my way out of the room. I received murmurs and nods in return. With that I left the house and began to wander through the streets of the city.
The last time I had been through here I was dragging the bloody, lifeless body of Ranboo. I remember thinking nothing but: I have to get him back, it's going to be ok, he'll be ok.
The streets this time are dead silent and there is nothing going through my head with the eception of the occasional what the fuck.
I wish there was a course in school called How to survive a zombie apocalypse 101, or maybe one called 99 ways to cure a zombie bite. Anything at this point would be better than not knowing what, if anything I can do to help.
As my thoughts wandered, so did I. I twisted and turned my way through the city, basking in the glory of the vine filled high rises and the flowers poking between the concrete. I don't know how long I was wondering but I eventually stumbled upon a more secluded house on the outskirts of the city. The property was surrounded by a border of tall trees, making it nearly impossible to get inside. The road leading up to it was small yet well maintained and as I sauntered up the path I was greeted with a large iron gate. Just by looking inside the property looked un-touched. Not a single thing was askew. Looks like anyone who survived didn't think to check the largest property in the whole city.
I decided to take a look inside before heading back to Ranboo and Tubbo. Upon closer inspection the gate seemed to be stuck shut as well as locked so I would have to find another way in. I decided the best bet would be to go through the trees, so I headed to a slightly larger gap in the trees. Turns out the fence ran around the perimeter of the trees too however on closer inspection I noticed a slight gap in the bars where it looked as though someone had pried the bars apart so they could squeeze through. I followed as they had and squeezed through the small opening in the bars. Once through I went back to the road and followed it all the way to the house. Once I was close enough to see the house, I froze in my tracks and all I could do was stare.
The house was massive.
Definitely the biggest house I've ever seen. It looked like it had at least four floors, maybe more and it was about the size of a castle, for fucks sake it was a castle. Ivy climbed up the exterior of the house, making it look rustic and old. The light tan exterior contrasted nicely with the dark brown almost black roofing. The whole house was covered with rows and rows of window towers shot into the ski at each of the corners as well as all over the rest of the castle. The courtyard out front was lucious and looks like at one point it was well maintained. The road came to a roundabout in front of the main doors. A pristine fountain lay still somehow running in the middle, water jutted out from the top before it flowed over layers of marble. The garden to the side still had flowers in full bloom and the greenery was lush and welcoming. A small seating area was situated in the middle of the flowers. The chairs looked cushioned and cozy, a small table sat between the chairs. It was more than the perfect setting for some afternoon tea. The property was not only surrounded by trees but there was a large forest out behind the castle. The various trees stood tall, their sturdy trunks supporting years of growth. It was turning fall so the leaves had become a flurry of colour. Reds and orange sprinkled the canopy like a birthday cake. The sun shining through made a pattern as though it was a disco ball. small dots of light poked their heads and danced on the forest floor.
Once I was dont gawking at the castle in front of me I decided to do a quick sweep of the place to see if it was not only safe, but to also see if it had lots of resources.
Turns out the inside of the house was even more impressive than the outside. The massive oak doors swung open to reveal a stunning marble staircase directly in front of the door. It twisted outwards in both directions causing the hallway at the top to split in two. From there I could see hallways and staircases branching off of the main hallway. To the right of what I had now named the grand staircase appeared to be a different staircase leading up further than the grand staircase. Behind the smaller staircase was a kitchen and what looked like a very large office. To the left were just more hallways and stairs.
Eventually I had searched and cleared the whole castle except the staircase to the right. And so I began to climb.
What felt like hours later I finally reached the top. I pushed the door open to reveal a beautiful rustic library book stacked shelves floor to ceiling on two layers of the library. One corner held two armchairs and many blankets. A hand made wooden table was tucked between them. Ladders littered the walls to allow easy access to the top of the shelves. On the top floor were even more bookshelves. The top was like a doughnut, a railing in the middle allowed you to see down to the lower level. In conclusion I thought it was magnificent and I knew Tubbo and Ranboo would love it even more.
I left the estate with a smile on my face. We were going to live lavishly. That is however long Ranboo would live. The smile was whipped off my face at the thought. I shoved my worries to the depths of my brain and continued walking back to the house. The sun was already starting to set so we would stay at the small house for the night and move tomorrow.
-------------------
Once at home I burst through the door of Ranboo's room to see him and Tubbo curled up on the bed together, asleep.
Unfortunately when I violently entered the room they both woke up with a start.
Although maybe it wasn't that unfortunate, this way I got to tell them about the house I had found and my plans to move there in the morning.
I explained in detail what I had found and they were both stoked. They agreed with my plan to move there tomorrow and with that knowledge I was able to settle down and have a good night's sleep for the first time in months.
