Chapter 2- Getting Down to Basics

Kaia stood next to Ambrose as the elderly wizard turned to me and he showed me what looked like a map of a galaxy, and he explained what the spiral was to which felt like it took forever listening to and afterwards I sat down with a splitting headache when I heard Kaia laughing.

I looked at Kaia and was mad, "what do you find so funny Kaia?"

She just looked at me with the biggest smile and said to me, "I felt the same way when I first heard the story Zephyr, so I understand how you feel right now."

I looked at my childhood friend with anger till Ambrose spoke up and said to me "Now that you know the truth, it is time for you to enroll in our school classes right now young wizard, now step forward to the book of magic to see what school of magic you belong to."

I stepped up to the giant book and opened it up and there was a flash and when I open my eyes I was standing in an empty void and there in front of me was a giant crystal that was changing colors, that was when I heard a feminine voice in my head.

"If you be worthy to learn Ravenwood's way of magic then touch the crystal and reveal your inner self's light young wizard."

I did what the voice said and placed my palm upon the crystal and that was when I felt a strange sensation welling up inside of me, like something inside of me was trying to come out. When the light cleared i was clad in light purple robes with white trims on them and was back in the tower with Kaia and Ambrose.

Ambrose looked at me and said "ah, I see you have become a storm wizard young one, now it is time for you to meet the Ravenwood professors, Kaia, I want you to take young Zephyr to Ravenwood and introduce him to all the professors."

Kaia smiled "ok Headmaster Ambrose." She then took me to a tunnel that had the name Ravenwood on it and we went through it and found ourselves in an area with a giant tree surrounded by buildings that had smaller size trees next to them. "This is Ravenwood, here wizards are able to learn from the schools of magic and hone their skills."

I wasn't really listening to Kaia explaining everything about the area we were in since I was more distracted by the giant tree in the middle of the area since it actually had a face when Kaia looked at me. "Oh, that is Bartleby, he is the source of all magic, He is also the one who sung the Spiral into existence, is the central feature of Ravenwood." She then took me to the building that looked like it had a perpetual storm going on outside the building and opened the door to the classroom as we went inside.

"So, what are we doing here Kaia?"

Kaia looked at me and said, "we are beginning our tours by introducing you to your professor who is Halston Balestrom, he is the Professor of Storm Magic here at Ravenwood." She looked around when we heard the door behind us open and we heard a voice behind us.

"Ah, Kaia, what brings you here, is this my new student that Ambrose told me about?"

We turned around but I saw nobody there till Kaia grabbed my head and tilted it down towards the floor and there in front of us was a green frog dressed in a suit.

"Who are you my young wizard?"

I looked at the small green frog as he hopped onto the table that was at the front of the classroom and slapped myself making sure I wasn't dreaming and said, "my name is Zephyr sir."

"Ah, I remember when I was new to Ravenwood, to be young and learning magic for the first time, I promise you Zephyr, i will teach you how to harness the power of storm to protect those you hold close and dear, but you should meet the other professors first."

After that Kaia and I left the storm room and met the other Ravenwood professors. It was weird meeting the other professors, there was a small fairy teaching the ice school, there was a woman with flame like hair teaching fire magic, a bald guy teaching myth magic, there was even a cow teaching life magic. When we walked out of the myth school I noticed a giant hole between the fire school and the myth school, we went to a kid that was standing by the hole and he introduced himself as Malorn Ashthorn and he was taking it on himself to teach other students death magic after the former professor Malistaire Drake broke the entire death school off of Ravenwood and it fell, according to Malorn, nobody knows where the school is but everyone doesn't think the building even survived and is now in pieces.

Kaia looked me and said, "now that we have toured the schools, you should meet Mr.Lincoln, he is the school register so we should see him as soon as possible so we can finish your enrollment."

As we walked to find Mr.Lincoln I took in all the sights of the Commons area, they actually had a merry-go-round for the people to ride on to relax on the way to a place called Golem court which we were told Mr.Lincoln was. And after talking to the bird man for what felt like hours, I actually got to start my time at Ravenwood.

We went to Ravenwood, and Kaia went to her classroom which was in the life school and i went to the storm school.

Professor Balestorm was teaching everyone in class the basics of storm magic by demonstrating the most basic storm spell there is, the spell Thunder Snake, it was amazing to watch and learn.
