Today is my first day of college.I had envisioned this moment of my life to go many ways, but crashing my car into another student's bike in the parking lot was not one of them.
I have to admit, it was a pretty soft run-in... Or should I say hit and run, considering whoever it was didn't even bother stopping to check the damage (although there was none, at least on my part).
That's right, the boy – from what I managed to see as he sped past me – briefly looked back through his all black helmet, seeming to shake his head mockingly, before driving off somewhere behind the grand building.
My friends, riding shotgun and in the back with me, were quick to throw Oh my God's, asking what had happened, but I was too busy glaring holes through the biker's (muscular and sturdy looking) retreating back, clang in a plain white shirt.
"What the hell, Vanessa? Who was that? I almost died! Holy shit." my best friend Lillian, always the dramatic one, was quick to exclaim with her hand over her heart.
"I have no fucking idea, but he just pissed me off." I grumbled, still trying to cram my neck in an attempt to spot him through all the vehicles and students.
"Of course he did. Nessa, lighten up! It's cool, we're cool, everything's all cool..." Lillian's new boyfriend, Evan, is a chill guy. Unfortunately I doubt he has many brain cells left from all the weed he smokes.
Looking at him through the rear view mirror, I quickly acknowledged that there was a big chance he had smoked a little j (more like a fat ass blunt) before joining us. No surprise there.
Lillian giggled, planting a loud kiss on the corner of his mouth, making a big grin appear on his face. I'm pretty sure he was groping her too, judging by their expressions.
"Ew! Where's your hand? Evan Joseph Clark I swear to G-" I drowned out Iris' disgusted squealing next to me, vaguely acknowledging some light slaps being exchanged between my friends, along with Evan's (hilarious) guffaws.
Smiling at their antics (but not too much, since my day wasn't starting out all that well and because come on, it was too early to be joyful in anyway), I quickly maneuvered my car into the spot I was aiming for to begin with.
"Get out, losers." I grabbed my phone and bag, skimming my eyes over the texts my ex-boyfriend had sent me – a good morning text, and another wishing me good luck on my first day (with plenty heart eye and kissy face emojis).
Lillian chose that moment to pluck my phone out of my hands with a stern expression.
"I can't believe you didn't block Brad's number already!"
Iris leaned in to read my notifications, looking back up at me with frowned eyebrows.
"Well, that explains the shitty start to your morning", she smirked.
Yeah, shitty start to my whole morning. Because not only did I crash into a motorbike, I also managed to wake up groggily at 4 in the morning because my next door neighbor was apparently giving his girlfriend the dick of her life.
It was so loud that I at first considered the possibility of him murdering someone and quickly analyzed how I would proceed in alerting the police, as our bedroom windows were so close together, he could get into my room and kill me next without breaking a sweat.
Iris locked arms with me with a grin, and together, we walked into our university hall, following after Lillian and Evan.
We were surprised he had managed to get accepted into our local college to begin with, but he had explained he had his ways with a saucy smirk. That was a good enough explanation to me.After that, my day was thankfully pretty uneventful. After getting our schedules, going through the obligatory "welcome to college, this year is going to be great" speech from the professors, and going back and forth between classes, it was finally the end of the day.
And in true college style, there was a house party scheduled tonight, to celebrate the start of the school year. Although, I don't consider there's anything celebratory about it (okay, maybe a little. I was trying to be relatable).
Lillian insisted we go to my house to get ready, since my parents were still on their vacation. So with the music on full blast through the aux cord, we sped out of the parking lot, this time without Iris and Evan, who are actually siblings (surprise!) and had to go home before the party.
Once home, we had the obligatory after-classes snacks – which in this case was left over pizza -– before heading up to my room, our music following us.
Our evening then consisted of us getting ready, meaning: stalking people on social media and gossiping about them, eating, doing our makeup and getting frustrated at it, then doing our hair and getting frustrated at it, more eating, Lillian gushing about Evan and texting him, some dancing, and finally picking outfits. In the span of 3 hours.
By 8 pm, Iris and Evan were here. He immediately went over to Lillian to shove his tongue down her throat, which was weirdly cute since both looked as if they had terribly missed each other already, while me and his sister exchanged compliments, gushing about each other since we were lonely ass bitches.
We were dressed to kill, then again, my friends are gorgeous. Iris and Evan, being a mix of their Jamaican father and Japanese mother, are both tall, cappuccino-skinned with angular faces and pouty lips – the ones Kylie Jenner was aiming for, but all natural. They share the same brown eyes, although Iris' are more of a deep chocolate color while Evan's are tinted with a little gold. With Iris' slender body and Evan's msucular frame, the siblings could both pass for models.
Lillian, on the other hand, is fair skinned, petite with killer curves, green eyed with amazing lashes, and sports the cutest dimples you could see on someone. Her hair, a dirty blonde color and extra smooth and silky, reaches her hips (and Evan loves to pull on it).
Now's the part where I claim to be the ugly duckling, fortunately I don't think I am. Not so long ago, I would've jumped to the occasion of belittling myself, but those days are gone now.
With gray-blue eyes, tan skin and long brown hair, I know I look good. My height is a little above average, and I get told my legs are a feature worth being envious of. I definitely don't have Lillian's generous curves, but I have enough. All in all, I feel content with myself – I would even say that I'm feeling great tonight.
A little far back in my mind, I wondered if the biker from this morning was going to show up. I still wanted to know who he was.
I can tell that this will be an...interesting night.
