Calix
After I had spent my night in with Dara, the morning light was starting to peak from the clouds. I felt warm and safe next to her with her head resting on my chest. After our confession towards each other had ended we stayed under the tree wrapped in each other's warmth. I felt happy knowing that she feels the same way I feel about her. Hearing those words exited her mouth made me want to kiss her right there and then. I was dumbfounded, I never expected her to blurt out her feelings towards me since I thought I would be the first one to do so. I've never felt this happy in my life, to have her not as my best friend but something more made me smile.
Here in my arms lies the woman I have fallen for since the day we met. After our first kiss last night I didn't want to leave her side. All I can think about is her. The image of her face clouds my mind every time I close my eyes. I looked down at her wrapped in my arms to see her eyes were closed but I knew she wasn't asleep. A faint hint of red spreads across her cheeks. I ran my fingers along the slight hint of redness before planting a small kiss onto her forehead. Her eyes fluttered open and a smile made its way to her face. My heart fluttered at her smile as she continued to look up at me through her long lashes. I'm going to marry this woman one day and make her my queen.
Suddenly my mind drifted to my parents. Are they going to accept her as the future queen?
"What's wrong?" Dara asks quietly, her brows knotted in confusion.
She looked at me confused. What was I supposed to tell her? I know my parents, especially my father. He would never accept her as the future queen of his kingdom, but then again she's the woman I love. He must accept her.
"Calix" she called my name, snapping my attention back to her.
She continues to look at me in confusion waiting for my response.
I shook my head and smiled, getting rid of the thoughts before responding to her.
"It's nothing love" I responded with a smile as I stared into her brown orbs.
She looked away flushed, before bringing her gaze back to mine.
She raised her body and leaned forward, placing a small kiss onto the tip of my nose with a smile.
"No lips?" I teasingly asked
She started to laugh at my childishness before making her way back up and placing a kiss on my lips. As she was about to pull away I reached my hand up to the back of her head and gently pressed my lips back onto hers. I let my fingers massage through her thick locks as I kept my lips on hers.
She slowly pulled away, her lips looked even more full than it ever was. Her eyes met mine once again, that's when I knew she was going to be the best and worst thing that has ever happened to me.
"I love you," I said as I pressed my forehead against her and closed my eyes.
"I love you too" she responded between her breaths.
" please don't ever leave me" she whispered eyes closed
We spent a few more minutes together before it was time for me to leave before anyone saw us. It was now 5:30 am. The sun was almost up which meant some of the villagers must already be up. That's the least of my worries though. My father is the problem. I know he's already up and he's probably going to question where I was the entire night. Alberto told me to be back before he was up but how was I supposed to leave after our confession.
I made my way onto my horse not before placing a small kiss onto her temple.
"I'll be back soon"
Those were the last words I said before trotting down the dirt road and back to the palace. I tried my best to hide my identity as I passed a couple of the villagers. They were too occupied with their morning routines to turn their eyes towards me which I was glad.
After arriving at the palace, I dropped kyros off at the stable before heading into the palace.
As I made my way into the palace I noticed that the maids were already making breakfast in the kitchen. I made my way upstairs to freshen up and get something to eat. Albert was nowhere in sight which means he's probably with father.
I continued to make my way towards my room when I heard my name being called by a voice I knew too well.
"Calix"
I inhaled a sharp breath before turning around. I watched as his eyes scanned my body up and down for the fourth time before he made his way towards me.
"Where were you?" He asked sternly
"I was out for some fresh air father"
He continued to scan my face to see if I was telling the truth. Technically I didn't lie since Dara is like a ball of fresh air to me. She is my safe place.
"Then why are your clothes like that? Your hair is all over the place and you're dressed as if you're not the future king to this kingdom" he says.
"I was out enjoying the cool breeze father that's why I'm like this" I responded annoyed.
He looked at me in suspicion, still not believing me. He hummed in response to which I was surprised. He's not one to always believe me but yet he chose to ignore questioning me further. Even though I was happy he didn't question me about my whereabouts I was still suspicious of this new behavior.
As I was about to enter my room I was stopped once again.
"We are having a masked ball in two weeks. Everyone is invited to the ball. I want you and the princess to visit the tailors to arrange your outfits today." He said before walking away.
Why do I have to take her? It's not like she doesn't have feet, she can go by herself. I was now more annoyed at the fact that I have to see the princess's face. I sighed and peeled the shirt off of my body before entering the bathroom to take a shower silently wishing I was back at the river with her in my arms.
