CHOOSING YOUR ocs godly parent is arguably the most fun thing you can do when writing a pjo fic, because when you really think about it, there are a lot to choose from.
IN CASE you haven't noticed, minor gods are a thing. So canon that Ethan had a minor god as his mother — Nemesis the Goddess of revenge. Which was such a cool idea by the way.
SO WHY not choose a minor god to parent your oc? There are literally many to choose from — however you must do your research. Some are impossible to incorporate but there are also some that are easy to as well. For instance, the book tempest by -astronogy is a book where the oc is the daughter of Mania the Goddess of insanity so the author has created their own powers as well because Mania isn't a well known Goddess. The book is so well done in regards to the characters originality!!
THERE IS also an option to choose your oc's parent to be a Titan like my beloved Zoë Nightshade. This was also used in one of my favourite pjo fics so far called outcast by ghxstifxce- who's plot was written by the extremely talented -MRSJASONGRACE who made the oc's parent Atlas. There is so much room for creative freedom in reference to choosing your ocs parent.

DESPITE ALL THIS I really do think having a known and canon pjo godly parent is also amazing. But your godly parent does not have to be the most known powerful God like Poseidon and Zeus. There haven't been a lot of Ares kids and Hermes kids around!! And what about having a Dionysus kid? Go for the lesser Gods. They'd also have more freedom to live a slightly more normal and monster-less life. (P.s if you wanna see a badass Ares kid in action — check out my fic Young God, the second book is also out!!)
IN CONCLUSION there is so much character freedom in choosing the right parent for your oc — whether they're a Titan, a canon camp-half blood God or a minor greek god. But do your research beforehand losers :P
